1900: And on that bombshell, I leave you for the day. See you all tomorrow, when perhaps we'll all wake up and find out this has been some sort of bizarre dream... I imagine that's what Roger's hoping anyway.

From JackTaylor912 on Twitter: "I just wanna check with someone in the know... Soderling DID just beat Federer, right? My TV's not on the blink or anything?"

1856: And while I have no words to describe how in awe I am of Rob-Sod right now, let's also spare a moment to bow down at the feet of one of sport's most impressive records: Roger Federer, 23 Grand Slam semi-finals in a row.

From Moz, pretending to revise, via text: "Undoubtedly deserved by Soderling. He's at the top of my list to take the title... and I am a lifelong Rafa fan. Supreme play."

From Egonporter on Twitter: "Nobody beats Robin Soderling 13 times in a row."

From SAMurphy87 on Twitter: "Didn't see that coming. Any chance of a Rafa/Soderling final?"
Every chance...

1848: Robin Soderling will play Tomas Berdych in the semi-finals after the Czech 15th seed thumped Mikhail Youzhny 6-3 6-1 6-2. By the way, Soderling's win leaves Federer's number one status in serious jeopardy. Rafa Nadal could be back on top of the tree by the end of the fortnight.

1845: Where to start? A year after knocking out the four-time defending champion and top seed Rafael Nadal, Robin Soderling ends top seed Roger Federer's run of Grand Slam semi-finals at 23. Federer's last defeat before the semis was against Gustavo Kuerten at Roland Garros way back in 2004. Soderling came into this match with a 0-12 record against the 16-time Grand Slam champion... I've got more... I just need to breath.

Robin Soderling: "It cannot be much better. It's great to play on this court - and for sure it's my favourite Grand Slam. To play the world number one on this court, it cannot be better."

1842: ROBIN SODERLING BEATS ROGER FEDERER 3-6 6-3 7-5 6-4

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 4-6 Soderling
Soderling wins the first point, but then watches a glorious Fed backhand come past him. It's 15-15. Soderling on to a short ball now, and Fed can't return that forehand. The Swede is almost scarily calm. Two MASSIVE forehands and Soderling has two match points. Big serve down the middle, just misses. Second serve out wide - and Fed puts his return over the baseline. SODERLING WINS! Pinch me. That did actually happen right?

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 4-5* Soderling
Fed rocked onto the back foot by another huge Soderling groundstroke and all he can do is prod a backhand into the trams. Another spot of bother at 15-30, and that quickly becomes 15-40 and an enormous spot of bother. Soderling with two break points... Ace from Fed... but now he's shanked a wild backhand over the baseline. Soderling will serve for the match! This will be a huge test of the Swede's cool... Federer hasn't lost a Grand Slam quarter-final since 2004.

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-7 4-4 Soderling
I am no longer at all confident that Fed will win this. The most impressive thing about Soderling is his consistency. He just doesn't seem to feel pressure... Just as I write that, the Swede thwacks a routine forehand into the net, but he's back to his old self in the next point, pummelling a smash.

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 4-3* Soderling
Fed thrashes a forehand into the net and that's a break point for Soderling. BIG moment. Fed's serve hits the centre line - Sod's not sure, but the umpire confirms it. The Swede keeps his cool though and a sizzling return sets up another break point. First serve out this time, but after a brief rally, Soderling's forehand drifts into the trams. Stunning inside-out forehand winner from Soderling and it's a third break point saved when Soderling fails to control a crunching Fed forehand. Lots of "come ons" and fist pumps from Fed. Soderling saves two game points but Fed eventually claws himself out an enormous hole. Meanwhile, Berdych leads Youzhny 6-3 6-1 3-1.

1821: Play may have stopped but Soderling sits under his umbrella and he's not going anywhere. Umpire gives the nod and they're back on it again....

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-7 3-3 Soderling
A cheeky lob just runs long so first blood to Soderling. Uh ohhhh more wet stuff. Brollies come out again. It's not bothering Soderling though and he crashes home a winner to go 40-0. Massive second serve and it's all level again....tense times.....bit of a delay and they're off....SUSPENDED BECAUSE OF RAIN

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 3-2 *Soderling
Feds ventures up to the net and volleys home. He's mixing it up now - he has to or it's au revoir for the world number one. Big serves follow and that is one quick game.

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-7 2-2 Soderling
Another enormous serve by Soderling, rocketing down the 'T' to take him to 30-15, and now Fed hits a wild forehand over the baseline. R-Sod holds to 15.

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 2-1* Soderling
Oh. Wasn't expecting that. Three errors from Fed and Soderling has three break-back points. Soderling can't return on the first, but then Fed plants a forehand into the trams. All very strange - but it's another superb response by Soderling.

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-7 2-0 Soderling
Fed off to a good start with a stunning forehand return winner. Bit of frustration in that one, I think. Soderling gets to 40-15, but Fed sticks away a neat volley to get back to deuce. Wrong-footing forehand from Fed and Soderling slips, netting his response... It's break point for the world number one, and Soderling nets another forehand. Big shout of "come on" from the defending champion. He's not gone yet...

Twitter
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery tweeting from Roland Garros: "Horrible, cold and dark, and a dreadful restart for Federer. Great effort from Soderling to serve it out, real tension around the place."

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-7 1-0* Soderling
Knocking out Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer at successive French Opens? That would be something, wouldn't it? Let's not forget Soderling saved a set point in the last set with a difficult backhand overhead off a miraculous Fed lob. Anyway, Fed off to a good start here: a drop shot taking him to 40-15, a sweeping backhand winner finishing it off.

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-7 0-0 Soderling
Fed, with all that experience, looks a bag of nerves right now. Soderling quickly into a 30-0 lead, but then a double fault from the Swede. A 10th ace gives him two set points. Good approach from Soderling, but incredible response from Fed, a dipping backhand forcing the Swede to net the drop volley. But Fed now overcooks a forehand... or does he? It's a very late call from the linesman, and Fed sends the umpire to check. On the line it is. Soderling will have another first serve - which is AN ACE! Wowee. Incredible poise by the underdog.

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-6* Soderling
Fed quickly gets to 40-15 when Soderling's return drops wide, but the Swede pegs him back to deuce... and now a double-fault from Fed. Wow. Soderling has a break point - AND HE TAKES IT! Raking return gets Federer off balance and Soderling takes control of the point from there, finishing with a whipped forehand winner. Soderling to serve for a two sets to one lead.

1750: Once this warm-up is over, which it will be very shortly, Fed will come out to serve at 5-5, leading 30-15. According to Mark Petchey, this 'dry' window is forecast to last 90 minutes.

1749: Amazing stat from Mark Petchey on the BBC Red Button: Fed has played 226 Grand Slam matches, and is going for his 200th win here. Soderling has played 57.

1745: More men in shorts - and this time it's Roger Federer and Robin Soderling, ready to resume battle in this intriguingly-poised quarter-final. First though: the warm-up.

1738: Ooh look, men in shorts... are sweeping the lines on Chatrier and we should be good to go shortly. I still think Federer's going to win this match, but if Soderling can pull out this third set, then I may change my mind. Fed going for a frankly absurd 24th straight Grand Slam semi-final, Soderling for his second semi and a first win in 13 against Fed.

1730: I promised you an update, and here it is: some brave souls have just been shovelling lakes of water off the covers on Chatrier - and the covers are now coming off.

Twitter
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery tweeting from Roland Garros: "Just seen my shuttle bus pal from Swedish paper Aftonbladet (I've told him to try a new name) - 'Robin's playing really, really good'."

1708: The news from Roland Garros is there will be no play before 6.30pm Paris time... which is in 22 minutes. I shall return then with another update.

1703: Still raining in Paris - and Piers Newbery reckons it looks "worryingly set in". Harrumph. Anyone for a custard cream?

Twitter
From stephsiu on Twitter: "Forced to do work now that the rain has called off Fed/Sod. So inconvenient."

Text in your views on 81111
From Erik in the library, via text: "This has annoyed me quite a bit too! Such a great distraction from the books!"
If you need a distraction from the books, I'd start by getting out of the library...

From Kevin, London, via text: "This match is reminiscent of Fed v Del Potro in last years French Open. It was warming up nicely till the rain came. I think it will go the distance."

From CorazonLatino on 606: "The weather clearly has no sense of timing."

1641: While I watch live coverage of the rain pouring down, you can watch a replay of the Nadal-Bellucci match from yesterday (if you live in the UK and you're watching on the Red Button or on the website). Oh, I am FURIOUS about this weather. Who can I complain to? I might try Piers Newbery first...

1638: That has annoyed me quite a large amount as it happens, but at least I can finally give you an update from Lenglen where Tomas Berdych leads Mikhail Youzhny 6-3 1-1.

The sun is out
Federer *6-3 3-6 5-5 Soderling
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The rain is falling much heavier now and play is suspended with Federer leading his service game 30-15... What an monumentally rubbish time for that to happen.

Federer *6-3 3-6 5-5 Soderling
Fed threads a brave backhand down the line, R-Sod just gets to it but the response is half an inch long. That's 0-30. Crikey, this is nerve-wracking... And now another shot from Soderling misses the line - but no! - the umpire is back out of his chair and spots it's touched a bit of the white stuff. Fed reluctantly agrees. Big serve gets R-Sod back to 30-30 but the Swede goes long again and suddenly it's set point for Fed. WHAT A POINT! Soderling is at the net to batter a smash into the court, but Fed, almost in the crowd, somehow leaps up to lob it back - the Swede doing brilliantly to keep his concentration to put away a difficult high backhand volley. Incredible stuff.

Federer 6-3 3-6 5-4* Soderling
A barely audible "come on" from the Fedster as he holds to 30. So tense, so absorbing. Who's going to crack first? It might be me actually...

Federer *6-3 3-6 4-4 Soderling
Is this a wobble from the Swede? A double-fault puts him 0-30 down - but he comes up with an outrageous forehand, which goes like a rocket down the line for a clean winner. Stunning, and Soderling goes on to hold. Hey, remember British wonder-boy Oli Golding from earlier? He's only gone and put his singles disappointment by winning his doubles match with Russian Alexander Rumyantsev. That win was all about Golding though... probably.

Federer 6-3 3-6 4-3* Soderling
Serve really on top now. I sense a tie-break. Fed delivers the first love service game of the set.

Federer *6-3 3-6 3-3 Soderling
R-Sod rips another ridiculous forehand into the corner to take him to 40-15 and an ace levels the set. R-Sod must win this set to win the match. Agree?

Federer 6-3 3-6 3-2* Soderling
Anxious times for Fed fans as he drops the first point on serve, but he's made of stern stuff, the 16-times Grand Slam champion. He plonks a second serve onto the line, forcing R-Sod to net as he holds to 30. The Swede questions the call, and gets the obligatory booing and whistling from the crowd. Panto-time.

Federer *6-3 3-6 2-2 Soderling
Soderling batters a HUGE forehand into the corner, incredibly Fed gets it back, but only for Soderling to thrash a backhand into the opposite corner. You are not supposed to be able to get this much pace on the ball in these conditions. It's quite incredible to see. Soderling holds to 15.

Federer 6-3 3-6 2-1* Soderling
And now Federer responds with an equally dominant service game. "It's like a hardcourt match," says John Lloyd on the BBC Red Button. "The big strikes are within the first two to three shots. Quickfire tennis."

Federer *6-3 3-6 1-1 Soderling
Now the Soderling first serve is in a groove, Fed is finding it almost impossible to get his foot into the Swede's service games. Two big aces in that game from Soderling. Over on Lenglen, Tomas Berdych is a break up and leading 3-2 against Mikhail Youzhny. Winner of that to face the winner of this one in the semis.

Federer 6-3 3-6 1-0* Soderling
Apologies, by the way, if you're finding this a little slow to update. Some big news elsewhere. No such problems for the Fedster as he begins the third set with a comfortable service hold.

From Patrick on 606: "I'm so proud of Soderling. With such a record and the way Feds played the first set his head could have dropped but he went up two or three levels himself. Remarkable. Keep it up Sodsy!"

Federer *6-3 3-6 0-0 Soderling
Soderling sends down a 226km/h first serve to move to 40-15 and two set points. No sign of nerves... until he serves a double-fault on the first, and then finds the net with a routine backhand. Eek. Now an ace down the middle from the Swede and it's a third set point and this time, Fed's backhand clips the net and drops his side. This match is warming up nicely, wouldn't you say?

Federer 6-3 3-5* Soderling
Well, Fed makes him serve for it. The world number one is denied a love game by a very lucky R-Sod netcord, but comes through to 15. Soderling has only ever won two sets against Fed in 12 matches...

The sun is out
Federer *6-3 2-5 Soderling
As the rain begins to fall, Fed keeps us all guessing by heading to the chair - but only to get a new bat, it turns out. The umbrellas are going up, but play will continue. Soderling, whose first serve percentage has rocketed up to 72, holds to 15 and shows no sign of crumbling...

Federer 6-3 2-4* Soderling
Soderling swings away at a few forehands: some go in, some do not, but it's a fearsome shot nonetheless. The Swede gets back to deuce with a brutal backhand onto the line, but Fed shuts the door with a huge serve followed by an ace. Uh-oh, rain...

Federer *6-3 1-4 Soderling
A love game from Soderling, his first of the day, and the Swede has done very, very well to get his foot in the door in this match, pouncing as soon as Fed's form dipped.

Federer 6-3 1-3* Soderling
A double fault now from Fed, his first of the day, and Soderling might be sensing a double break at 15-30. Fed sends down an ace to follow though, and gets his name on the board in the second set.

Federer *6-3 0-3 Soderling
Soderling swings his body at a forehand, finding an incredible angle. That gets a fist pump from the Swede. Soderling appears to be bothered by a bit of a knee injury, which is a bit of a worry, but it doesn't stop him consolidating the break.

Federer 6-3 0-2* Soderling
The first set stats show Soderling's first-serve percentage was a rather miserable 47, with Fed's up at 77... but suddenly the defending champ's serve fails him. Soderling latches onto two second serves in a row to bring up his first break point of the day and Fed obligingly knocks a backhand into the trams. Odd game by the top seed, but good effort by R-Sod.

Federer *6-3 0-1 Soderling
Bah non... Soderling slaps his racquet in disgust as he chucks in a double fault - just as he was looking to start the second set on the right note. No wonder the pressure is starting to tell though, Fed is picking off the Swede's serves like apples from a tree. Fed earns another break point but for once, fails to get his return in.

BBC Sport's Piers Newbery tweeting from Roland Garros: "Yikes. Dodgy volley from Soderling and moments later the set's over. Federer playing brilliantly, crowd a bit stunned, like Robin."

Federer 6-3 0-0* Soderling
Easy. Federer drops just two points on serve in the entire set. The world number one just loves, loves, loves playing Soderling.

Federer *5-3 Soderling
Federer dances around the ball in that familiar fashion, creating room to spank a forehand down the line. That's break point but only for as long as it takes for Soderling to hammer down a fourth ace of the day. Fed dinks a drop shot right onto the sideline to earn a second break point and this time there's no escape, a heavy backhand forcing Soderling to volley wide. Fed to serve for the first set. In the battle of the injured players on Lenglen, Elena Dementieva beats Nadia Petrova 2-6 6-2 6-0 to book a semi-final against Francesca Schiavone.

Federer 4-3* Soderling
Fed will be fuming - he's just dropped a second point of the day on serve. Soderling sprays a forehand into the trams and Fed can head for the chair again.

Federer *3-3 Soderling
Fed still probing away, but Soderling's first serve is beginning to find its mark now and the Swede holds to 30 in his most comfortable service game so far.

From Chrisuk78 on Twitter: "Can't see Sod getting close to Fed. Fed always deals well with the big hitters. Simply Fed got too much game for Sod."

Federer 3-2* Soderling
Just finished writing that last entry in time to see Federer strolling back to his chair after a lightning quick love service game. Still only one point dropped on serve.

Federer *2-2 Soderling
I'll bet Federer's furious he's had to come out on to Chatrier without knowing whether Michael Dawson has made it into England's final World Cup squad - but he's not showing it. Another glimmer of hope at 15-30 but Soderling isn't crumbling, and the Swede overpowers Fed from the baseline to get back to 30-30 before serving out.

Federer 2-1* Soderling
A hold to love and the world number one has only dropped one point on serve so far. Time for Soderling to weather the storm, I think. Over on Lenglen, Dementieva and Petrova are into a decider, the former leading it 3-0. The winner will face Francesca Schiavone in the semis.

Federer *1-1 Soderling
I think Fed's in the mood here. The defending champ plays the most sumptuous drop shot, which Soderling runs for but gets nowhere near, to get to 0-30. A first ace of the day makes it three points in a row for R-Sod, but some tentative volleying from the Swede allows Fed the chance to place a pass down the line. Back to deuce, and a flashing backhand winner from Fed earns him a break point. Sod saves that one but then foolishly leaves a shanked Fed forehand which drops in. Another break point and again Fed draws Soderling into the net, but this time the Swede puts the volley away. Relief for Soderling.

Federer 1-0* Soderling
Nice, easy game for Fed to kick us off, holding to 15. Now, what a bonus I have for you (if you're in the UK): BBC 5 live Sports Extra are providing commentary of this match. Manually refresh your page instantly.
* denotes next to serve

1452: Fed to serve... Play.

1450: OK, elephant in the room time. Soderling has lost all 12 of his previous matches against Federer. No active player has such a poor record against the world number one. R-Sod did post a win over Fed in Abu Dhabi in January, but that's an exhibition tournament so it doesn't really count. Well, I'm sure Fed doesn't count it anyway.

From Louisa, Glasgow, via text: "Soderling in four. Come on Robin!!!"

1444: Here they come then, Roger Federer stopping to speak one of his tens of languages (French, not surprisingly) to the pre-match interviewer. Robin Soderling looks cool as you like. The Swede has dropped one set in four matches so far at Roland Garros, and lost only seven games in his first two matches. He absolutely crushed 10th seed Marin Clilc in the fourth round. No-one's mentioned the head-to-head record yet, have they? Good....

From RKW - Bred Pole on 606: "It was only a year ago (well, one day over) that Robin Soderling knocked out out Rafael Nadal at the French Open... another HUGE scalp to possibly follow?"

1440: Next up on Chatrier, and with apologies to all the other matches today, it's the big one as top seed and defending champion Roger Federer goes up against in-form Swede Robin Soderling in a repeat of last year's final. Just no-one mention the head-to-head record, OK?

1435: A grinning Schiavone bends down and kisses the Chatrier court as she celebrates becoming the first Italian woman in the open era to reach a Grand Slam singles semi-final. She'll face the winner of Dementieva-Petrova, and with both those players struggling with injury, could Schiavone even go one step further? Dementieva is fighting back against Patrova, leading 3-1 in the second set after losing the first 6-2.

1431: Francesca Schiavone plucks the ball off her toes and sends a perfect volley on to the baseline to earn two match points and she boldly puts away a midcourt smash to seal a quite superb 6-3 6-2 win over third seed Caroline Wozniacki. She is through to her first Grand Slam semi-final at the age of 29.

1429: Francesca Schiavone breaks for the sixth time and she will serve for a place in the semi-finals. Can she hold her nerve? She's been the better player out there by quite some distance.

From randalthor1812 on Twitter: "Been really impressed with Schiavone since beating Na Li, could be her best (last) chance of making a slam final at age 30."

Twitter
British junior Oli Golding on Twitter: "Played a good match but didn't take my chances... Devastated... Still dubs soon so got ta get pumped for that!"

1423: Blimey! Two holds in a row now on Chatrier as Schiavone strides to the chair with a 4-3 advantage in the second set. The bodies are creaking over on Lenglen, where both players are limping, but Petrova slightly less so. She has a 6-2 4-3 lead over Dementieva.

1414: Wozzy wastes one break point with a woeful drop-shot attempt, the kind of shot which makes you wince, but the teenager takes the second. I think that's four breaks in a row. Is Schiavone starting to wobble with victory in sight?

1410: Finally some good news for Wozzy as she breaks back, but Schiavone simply hits back to break for the fifth time in a row, sealing a 3-1 lead by thrashing away a short ball. Petrova closes in on the first set against Dementieva, consolidating a break to make it 5-2.

Someone is having a tantrum
1400: Play is finally back under way on Lenglen after that spot of locker room relay between Petrova and Dementieva. Schiavone continues to rock and roll against Wozniacki, her latest break of serve prompting Woz to chuck her racquet on the floor - but even that's a bit half-hearted. Schiavone leads 6-2 2-0.

Twitter
BBC 5 live's Jonathan Overend tweeting from Roland Garros: "No play on Lenglen for, what, 15 minutes?!? Dementieva left for treatment, as soon as she came back, Petrova left for treatment."

BBC Sport's Piers Newbery at Roland Garros: "Fernandes beats Golding 6-2 7-6, the Brit a little unlucky after dominating the second set, but played a shocker of a tie-break. LTA faces Roger Draper, Steven Martens and Arvind Parmar in the crowd."

1351: In the slow conditions, Francesca Schiavone is just proving herself to be a far superior clay-court player than Caroline Wozniacki at the moment. The 29-year-old Italian takes the first set 6-2. She may be prepares for a three-hour match (see 1311), but it doesn't look like she'll get it. On Lenglen, Petrova leads Dementieva 3-2... Wait a minute, is there an injury there or is the scoreboard stuck perhaps? It's been 3-2 for ages...

It's bad news for a Briton
1345: Erm... Britain's Oli Golding loses the second-set tie-break 7-0, handing Tiago Fernandes a 6-2 7-6 victory. Still the Brazilian is the fifth seed - and I bet you could count the number of Nik Naks adverts he's starred in on, well, no hands.

1339: The tension builds on a damp Court 11 where Oli Golding and Tiago Fernandes go into a second-set tie-break, which the Brit must win to avoid a second-round exit. Still, I imagine if you've starred in a Nik Naks advert, a crucial tie-break is a walk in the park by comparison. Schiavone with a 4-2 lead over Wozniacki, and looking very impressive. Elena Dementieva has pegged Nadia Petrova back to 3-2.

1333: The lovely Sarah from the BBC Red Button team has just alerted me to the official Roland Garros weather forecast, which seems to imply that this miserable weather is somehow Britain's fault... "A cool overcast sky during most of the morning. By mid-afternoon, a weather disturbance coming from the British Isles is expected to bring light to moderate rain to Roland Garros. Expect the rain to persist a few hours before tapering off later in the evening."

From Greg Rusedski on Twitter: "Schiavone playing very well and great to watch. Lovely to see variety, and great tactics."

1330: Schiavone sends a raking single-handed backhand onto the sideline past a stranded Wozniacki. The Italian follows it with a superb lob, giving her three break points. She only needs one and now leads 3-1. Nadia Petrova has leapt out to 3-0 against Elena Dementieva on Lenglen. Britain's Oli Golding holds serve to take a 5-4 second-set lead against Tago Fernandes.

1325: Oli Golding's favourite dogs are called Bobby and Doggy Pink, according to his official website. I don't like to be mean, but Doggy Pink? What sort of a dog's name is that? I wonder if that dog dares leave the house for its walkies. Still raining in Paris but they carry on... It's already a bit of a dogfight on Chatrier as Schiavone holds to lead 2-1 against Wozniacki. Slowcoaches over on Lenglen where Petrova holds her serve to lead Dementieva 1-0.

The sun is out
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery at Roland Garros: "Rain falling as Golding takes a 4-3 lead against Fernandes. Both players hit it hard and make a lot of noise doing so. Good match so far..."

It's bad news for a Briton
1318: Britain's Oli Golding drops serve in the second set of his second-round match against Tiago Fernandes and is pegged back to 3-2. Golding used to be a child actor and his CV includes Coming Home with Keira Knightley, and the Mike Leigh film All Or Nothing. I am more impressed that he has also appeared in a Nik Naks advert. I love Nik Naks.

From DiscoStew1 on Twitter: "Office atmosphere mixed... I'm raving about a Fed-Soderling match-up and its falling on deaf ears... philistines!"

1311: Sam Smith on the BBC Red Button predicts Wozniacki-Schiavone could be an epic. Apparently, Schiavone herself predicted a real battle between the pair and said she was prepared to stay out there for "three hours" if necessary. Great. Could be a long wait for Roger Federer and Robin Soderling, whose quarter-final follows this one.

It's good news for a Briton
1309: I think we can safely say we're at the business end of the French Open now as the quarter-finals get under way. On court and warming up now: Caroline Wozniacki and Francesca Schiavone on Chatrier, Elena Dementieva and Nadia Petrova on Lenglen. Meanwhile on Court 11, British wonder-boy Oli Golding has lost the first set against fifth seed Tiago Fernandes but leads 3-0 in the second.

1300: Hello there. I don't know how the atmosphere is in your office, but everyone here is absolutely buzzing about the start of the French Open quarter-finals, and not in any way distracted by the impending announcement of the Fabio Capello's 23-man England squad for the World Cup.
