Annacone was named Great Britain Davis Cup team coach in 2008

The Lawn Tennis Association has announced that men's head coach Paul Annacone is set to leave his post.

Annacone, who has been in the role for three years, will continue until his contract expires in November.

"I have really enjoyed my time at the LTA, working with the players and coaching team," said the American, 47.

"I think we have laid solid foundations for an exciting and successful long-term future for men's tennis in Britain and I am proud to have played my part."

He added: "The coaching team set up is now in a very strong place to support our talented players, and I hope that by giving plenty of notice, I can ensure a smooth transition after my departure."

Annacone, who coached 14-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras and former British number one Tim Henman during their careers, was one of a number of high-profile recruits by the LTA in November 2006.

He also became Great Britain's Davis Cup team coach in April 2008 after the resignation of Peter Lundgren, quitting in March along with captain John Lloyd.

Head of men's tennis Leon Smith praised Annacone for his efforts at the LTA. "Both Paul and I recognise there is still a long way to go for us in the men's game, but thanks to Paul's contribution, we are heading in the right direction."

LTA player director Steven Martens added: "We are enormously grateful to Paul for his contribution to the men's game in Britain.

"His work with our players and coaches both here, and at tournaments and training camps all over the world, will have a positive impact on the men's game for many years to come."

Great Britain lost all four Davis Cup ties Annacone was involved in, including a humiliating 3-2 defeat at the hands of Lithuania in March.
