But massive slice of luck for Murray chasing down a drop shot as Chela's response cannons off his racquet at the net to finally convert his fourth break point.

Awesome play from Chela, dishing out some of Murray's treatment from the first set, working the Scot around the court before pummelling a muscular forehand winner down the line for an early break point. Slice of fortune - quite literally - as a backhand defensive shot kisses the top of the net before feebly lopping over on Chela's side. Murray earns three more breaks and eventually converts his third with a quite breath-taking cross-court forehand check shot which leaves his opponent as dumb-founded as most of those watching on. Murray opens up with yet another scintillating backhand slice drop, but lands a volley at the net too short, allowing Chela to capitalise to take a 15-30 lead. The Argentine draws another unforced error from Murray on the backhand to earn two break points - converted at the first attempt with a booming forehand down the line with Murray nowhere near the ball. Where did that game come from?

Chela's game is rapidly unravelling at a rate of knots - the Argentine thumps a booming forehand long and Murray is in total control with his second successive break. The Scot has not put one foot wrong, in complete contrast to his opponent.

1756: So what do we know about Chela? He's 30, from the enchanting city of Buenos Aires, ranked 51st in the world and his favourite surface is clay. He's a fair old unit at 6ft 3in and, according to the ATP Tour website, he enjoys listening to rock 'n' roll group Los Redondos. Not familiar with their oeuvre.
