1923: So that's it from me - until next time, adios. From Bryan, Linlithgow: "Stuck at airport so am following via live text commentary. Sounds like Andy has found his form again just in time for Paris. Chela is no idiot on clay, so hoping Murray gets credit he deserves for this performance." The Man From Viltheed on 606 "Surface and altitude is good for him - if he played like this back in Miami and IW, he could have easily made it to the end." ANDY MURRAY BEATS JUAN IGNACIO CHELA 6-3 6-3 Murray* 6-3 6-3 ChelaMurray hammers another ace flush on the line for two match points - and an overhit defensive return from Chela sails way past the service line and it's match over. The duo shake hands in the middle as Murray sets up a third-round encounter against Romania's Victor Hanescu.
Murray 6-3 5-3 Chela*Boom! Murray hammers a drilled double-handed forehand winner before another outrageous service return earns two set points. Chela reduces the arrears to one with another superb forehand and takes the game to deuce when Murray overhits a return. Murray earns another set point when Chela returns into the net, but two unforced errors and Chela sneaks the game. Murray* 6-3 5-2 ChelaMurray displays his indefatigable resilience, chasing every return with unbridled enthusiasm, although Chela gets the better of him this time. Murray hammers an ace to take a 40-30 lead - and he thinks he has game wrapped up with another belting first serve called out. The umpire takes a wander from her chair and confirms the serve was indeed good. Murray one game away from the third round.
Murray 6-3 4-2 Chela* Murray races into a 0-40 lead and converts his three break points at the first attempt with a thunderous cross-court volley on the run. Awesome point. Surely it's the British number one's to lose from here... Murray* 6-3 3-2 Chela More sublime touches from Murray before regaining the lead with a forehand volley smash. Good set this. Murray 6-3 2-2 Chela* Huge double-handed forehand winner from Chela, while Murray punches a backhand into the net. An unbelievable forehand drop from Chela ends a quite magnificent rally with the Argentina 40-30 to the good before a defensive backhand return from Murray lands into the net to enable the world number 51 to level the second set. Randalthor1812 on 606 "Both players look desperate to win and are therefore putting themselves under pressure he who makes less mistakes is going to win here, probably Murray who has the class to prevail." Murray* 6-3 2-1 Chela Nothing to worry about as Murray unleashes one of his more impressive service games, comfortably holding yet again to love. Murray 6-3 1-1 Chela* Chela's cranks up the intensity with an awesome forehand for a 40-15 lead, but Murray takes the game to deuce with two successive forehand winners. Bad error from Murray on break point - he runs around to his forehand with plenty of time, but hits the net post which takes the ball out of court - and he's seething, muttering under his breath and all sorts. But massive slice of luck for Murray chasing down a drop shot as Chela's response cannons off his racquet at the net to finally convert his fourth break point.
Murray* 6-3 0-1 ChelaMurray unleashes a primeval cry as Chela dispatches an overhead smash from an attempted lob. Awesome play from Chela, dishing out some of Murray's treatment from the first set, working the Scot around the court before pummelling a muscular forehand winner down the line for an early break point. And he's only gone and converted at the first attempt! Murray 6-3 Chela*Wallop! Murray absolutely hammers a short Chela second serve with gusto, awesome shot. Slice of fortune - quite literally - as a backhand defensive shot kisses the top of the net before feebly lopping over on Chela's side. Murray immediately acknowledges he didn't intend for that result. He earns yet another break point - this time for the first set - but Chela holds him off when he latches on to a short return with a forehand down the line. Murray earns three more breaks and eventually converts his third with a quite breath-taking cross-court forehand check shot which leaves his opponent as dumb-founded as most of those watching on. First set to Muzza. Murray* 5-3 ChelaMurray toys with Chela, making the Argentina scamper to all corners of the court before nailing a short return with a simple forehand drop at the net. Chela smacks a forehand wide of the tramlines before yet another deft drop earns Murray his second service hold to love. Impressive.

Murray* 4-2 Chela Drips of rain speckle the clay surface, but nothing to alarm the court coverers. Murray banishes the wobblies from his previous service game and comfortably holds to love with a powerful first serve wide to Chela's backhand. Murray 3-2 Chela* A revitalised Chela races to a 40-0 lead, spraying forehands all over the court as Murray struggles to find his depth. Although Murray pulls back two points, he sends a regulation forehand return in to the net as Chela reduces the arrears to one game. Murray* 3-1 Chela Murray opens up with yet another scintillating backhand slice drop, but lands a volley at the net too short, allowing Chela to capitalise to take a 15-30 lead. The Argentine draws another unforced error from Murray on the backhand to earn two break points - converted at the first attempt with a booming forehand down the line with Murray nowhere near the ball. Where did that game come from? Murray 3-0 Chela* Chela's game is rapidly unravelling at a rate of knots - the Argentine thumps a booming forehand long and Murray is in total control with his second successive break. The Scot has not put one foot wrong, in complete contrast to his opponent. Murray* 2-0 Chela Murray chases down a Chela drop shot and returns a point-winning one of his own before polishing off his first service game with another deft backhand drop, which turns like a Shane Warne leg-break as it bounces just inches from the net. Awesome start, not a point dropped. Murray 1-0 Chela* Unforced errors galore from Chela, who batters a forehand into the net at 0-30 to give the world number five three break points. And he converts them at the first attempt with a deft drop shot, allowing him to send a simple forehand down the line for a fantastic start to his campaign. 1757: Chela to serve first. Game on. 1756: So what do we know about Chela? He's 30, from the enchanting city of Buenos Aires, ranked 51st in the world and his favourite surface is clay. He's a fair old unit at 6ft 3in and, according to the ATP Tour website, he enjoys listening to rock 'n' roll group Los Redondos. Not familiar with their oeuvre. If you are familiar with their work, let us know what we can expect on the 606 website (link above) or text 81111 with the word "TENNIS" before your message. And you can even talk about tennis if you want. 1753: Enough of the doom though - it's advantage Murray as the Scot has won four of the five meetings with Chela in his professional career. The last time these two met was at last year's French Open, when Murray romped to a 6-2 6-2 6-1 win. 1748: Hello, it's over to the Spanish capital where Andy Murray takes on Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela in the second round of the Madrid Masters. The British number one has had a bit of a rough ride of late, knocked out at the first hurdle in successive tournaments in Miami and Monte Carlo. Madrid's a good as place as many to get the clay game back on track less than two weeks before the French Open.
