It's day seven of the 2010 Australian Open and first up on Rod Laver Arena is the eagerly-awaited last-16 meeting between Britain's Andy Murray and 6ft 9ins American John Isner
Fifth seed Murray hits top form from the outset but world number 28 Isner sticks with him and even engineers a set point before Murray takes the opener on a tie-break
Out on Court 19, meanwhile, Britain's Heather Watson cuts a dejected figure as she slumps to a 6-1 4-6 6-1 defeat by China's Hao Chen Tang in round one of the girls' singles
Another good result for China comes on Hisense Arena, where the unseeded Zheng Jie becomes the first Chinese player to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals with victory over 31st seed Alona Bondarenko
Back on Rod Laver Arena, the temperature begins to soar, Isner starts to tire and Murray turns on the style to wrap up the second set
As the match slips further away from Isner, the giant American takes his frustration out on his racquet and, in doing so, earns himself a warning from chair umpire Carlos Ramos
Murray produces a succession of jaw-dropping winners to dismantle Isner's game in the third set and book his first Australian Open quarter-final appearance with a 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 6-2 win
There is a similar height mismatch next on Rod Laver Arena as defending champion Rafael Nadal takes on 6ft 10ins Croat Ivo Karlovic for a place in the last eight
A keenly-fought opening set sees Nadal break at 4-4 before serving out, but Karlovic refuses to be rolled over in the second and hits back to level the match at one set apiece
Women's third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova gets off to a poor start in her last-16 meeting with fellow Russian Nadia Petrova but bounces back from losing the first set by taking the second
It is Petrova, however, who rallies in the deciding set to shock Kuznetsova and follow up her third-round thrashing of Kim Clijsters with another fine win
Nadal raises his game significantly to capture the third set and, despite Karlovic's attempts to mix things up, maintains his standards in the fourth to come through 6-4 4-6 6-4 6-4 and set up a meeting with Murray
US Open champion and fourth seed Juan Martin del Potro shows his frustration as he slips to a five-set defeat by Croatia's Marin Cilic
The 21-year-old Cilic still finds time to sign autographs for his fans, despite his exhaustion after a five-set battle lasting four hours and 38 minutes
British teenager Laura Robson (right) and Australian partner Sally Peers reach the quarter-finals of the women's doubles, having only teamed up on the eve of the tournament
Justine Henin is the centre of attention as she goes through to the last eight with a 7-6 1-6 6-3 win over her fellow Belgian Yanina Wickmayer
A disappointed Dinara Safina walks off the Hisense Arena after quitting her match against Maria Kirilenko because of a back injury. The second seed was trailing 5-3 and 30-40 on serve at the time
Andy Roddick thanks the crowd after winning his three-and-a-half hour, fourth-round match against Fernando Gonzalez 6-3 3-6 4-6 7-5 6-2 in the final match of the day
