Mauresmo lost her second round game to Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4 6-0 |
Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo is considering retiring from tennis. The 30-year-old Frenchwoman, who won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006, has not played since last month's second round defeat at the US Open. Mauresmo, who will miss her remaining two events of the season in Linz and Luxembourg, has admitted she will use the time to consider her future. "Since the US Open, I've been trying to practise but I can't find the desire to come back to competition," she said. "I don't want to rush or force things. [I will take] some time to think before making a decision regarding the remainder of my career." | 606: DEBATE BBC Sport's Peter Scrivener |
Mauresmo started 2009 in fine form, winning her 25th Tour title in Paris in February - her first victory in two years. However, she has struggled with injury in recent months and has not played since being beaten by Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak at Flushing Meadows.
