More rain is forecast in New York on Saturday |
Rain caused havoc at the US Open for the second day running, forcing the men's final to be moved to Monday. With no play possible on Friday, the rain-suspended quarter-final between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez is due to start on Saturday at 1730 BST. Both women's semi-finals have also been moved to Saturday with the final due to be played on Sunday. Saturday's weather forecast for New York is not encouraging, however, with more rain predicted. World number three Nadal was leading 11th seed Gonzalez 7-6 (7-4) 6-6 (3-2) when rain stopped play on Thursday. Their match will be followed on Arthur Ashe Stadium by the second women's semi-final between Kim Clijsters and defending champion Serena Williams. The first sees Caroline Wozniacki meet Yanina Wickmayer on Grandstand court at 1600 BST. British number two Laura Robson gets the action under way on court eight at 1600 BST, taking on Lauren Davis of the USA in the quarter-finals of the girls' singles. They are followed on court by British number one Heather Watson, who faces second seed and 2009 Wimbledon girls' singles champion Noppawan Lertcheewakarn of Thailand.
