They then raced into a 5-1 lead and wasted two match points before wrapping up a 2-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (11-9) 6-2 victory in the next game. Their next opponents are second seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic of Canada and Serbia. | 606: DEBATE |
Fleming and Borwell clinched the first set of their match against Dusan Vemic and Flavia Pennetta when Borwell powered home a forehand volley but one break of serve cost them the second set. However the Britons took the only break point to arrive in the entire final set to clinch a 7-5 4-6 7-5 victory over the Serbian/Italian pair. Their next opponents are Indian 13th seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza. Auckland and Baltacha beat American/Ukrainian duo Travis Parrott and Kateryna Bondarenko 7-6 (7-5) 6-2. The first set went to a tie-break after one break of serve apiece but the Britons stepped up a gear in the second set by breaking twice to secure the win. They now take on fifth seeds Daniel Nestor and Elena Vesnina of Canada and Russia. There was no success for the other British teams in action however. Bogdanovic and Ward went down 6-2 6-4 5-7 6-3 to fifth seeds Bruno Soares and Kevin Ullyett. Robson and Stoop lost 6-3 6-4 to 16th seeds Svetlana Kuznetsova and Amelie Mauresmo. Highlights - Robson/Stoop lose vital break Robson and Stoop lost the first set on the third set point in front of a packed Court 12 but the British pair hit back in the second.
