Roddick's big serve was for the most part too much for Kunitsyn to handle
Andy Roddick progressed to round three of Wimbledon by holding off a mini-fightback from Russia's Igor Kunitsyn.
The number six seed breezed through the first two sets but then let his level slip and Kunitsyn took his chance to break and clinch the third.
Roddick's more aggressive stance finally stifled the comeback to ease through the fourth set and wrap up a 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2 win.
Serbia's Viktor Troicki set up a third-round match with Andy Murray.
The 30th seed was made to work hard for a 6-7 6-0 1-6 6-3 7-5 victory over Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver.
Six seed Gilles Simon dropped a set but overcame Thiago Alves 5-7 6-3 6-4 6-4 and will play Victor Hanescu of Romania after he comfortably brushed aside Nicolas Devilder 6-2 6-3 6-1.
Next up for Roddick is Austria's Jurgen Melzer, who came though 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 7-6 (7-1) against Germany's Benjamin Becker.
Two-time Wimbledon runner-up Roddick looked in impressive form with his big serve and volleying working well for most of the win over Kunitsyn.
Roddick comes through Kunitsyn 'dogfight'
The only blip was the loss of the third set when he became overly cautious and Roddick will know he will have to up his game to get through the sterner tests to follow.
The American said: "I feel like I had him up against it in the third set but didn't convert break points. He got one and converted it to make it a dogfight.
"But I'm glad I played well in the fourth set. Jurgen will be a tough game. He's super talented and won in juniors here.
Elsewhere, 10th seed Fernando Gonzalez came from a set down to beat Leonardo Mayer 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-4 6-4 and set up a third-round meeting with Juan Carlos Ferrero, a four-set winner against Fabrice Santoro.
Tomas Berdych, seeded 20th, was first up on Court Two and he crushed Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-2 6-4 6-4 with a hugely impressive display.
The big-serving Czech will now play the number 12 seed Nikolay Davydenko, who stormed to an equally-convincing 6-4 6-4 6-2 win against Victor Crivoi.
David Ferrer, seeded 16th, blitzed Fabio Fognini 6-2 6-2 6-3 and now faces Radek Stepanek, the 23rd seed having battling through a marathon against Potito Starace to win 6-4 4-6 6-2 4-6 6-3.
