Queen's coverage continues on BBC2 and on the BBC website (UK users). I'll see you soon. Andy Murray speaking to the BBC: "It was very good. He served very well at start of the match and I didn't get too many opportunities, but I hit a few really good passing shots at 5-5 and broke him and then I started to feel more comfortable. Mardy's a very, very good grass-court player. It was a good test for me." Murray 7-5 6-3 Fish Fish is reeling now. The American plays a Murray return which looks certain to drop wide - and volleys long. He gets back to 30-30 but Murray produces a wonderful return on the stretch, forcing Fish to half-volley over the baseline. Match point and Murray belts a backhand return winner onto the sideline and that's it, through to the semis. Murray 7-5 5-3* Fish Murray's 11th ace of the day takes him to game point, and he quickly closes out the game to love. This is really a very impressive performance by Murray, effortlessly stepping it up at exactly the right time. Murray 7-5 *4-3 Fish My colleague tells me he's really into artichoke hearts at the moment - an exchange which almost makes me miss a gorgeous lob-on-the-run from Murray. The Scot gives it a big "come on" as a brutal return sets up the break point. Fish saves it with a brave volley but then overcooks a forehand - and another brilliant backhand return from Murray earns him the break. He seems very fired up too. Murray 7-5 3-3* Fish Thwack... a 10th ace from Murray hits the advertising hoardings and he goes on to close out the game to 15. Murray is ahead of Fish on the ace count, which is as impressive as it is surprising. From Neil, Sussex, via text on 81111: "Surely 'Mardy Fish' is a tautology. Shouldn't he just be called 'shark'?" Murray *7-5 2-3 Fish Fish hooks a backhand onto the line... oh hang on, I've fallen into my own pun trap there haven't I? Anyhoo, that takes him to 40-0 but Murray isn't ready to give up on the game yet, pegging him back to 40-30 with two passing shots before Fish is forced into a forehand error. Murray fires a backhand down the line to get back to deuce again. But Fish survives. Murray 7-5 2-2* Fish "Mardy Fish does wear socks," remarks Andrew Castle in the BBC commentary box. "They're just those little ones that girls wear." Righto. Murray finishes the game with a cheeky drop shot and an even cheekier backhand slice pass down the line. From Sion in Ceredigion, via text on 81111: "Mardy Fish is excellent on grass because of his serve and coley tactics." Easily the worst one yet. Well done, Sion Murray *7-5 1-2 Fish How many different ways are there to say 'easy hold'? Not many, I'm beginning to find out. Back to the fish puns then... Murray 7-5 1-1* Fish As you were, with serve dominating. The Queen's crowd have got Roddick-Karlovic up next. It's a serve fan's paradise out there. From Isaac Newton via text on 81111: "Re Cogen (at 4-5): 17% is 1/6. 1/7 is 14%. A good point spoiled for me by poor maths." Murray *7-5 0-1 Fish Ace number eight seals the game for Fish and he's back on track. From Mac in Forest Hill, via text on 81111: "Anyone noticed how smooth Mardy's legs are? Must surely wax them..." John Lloyd on BBC2: "Andy Murray would take those serve stats right now for the rest of the grass-court season." Murray 7-5* Fish Fish sweeps a lovely forehand crosscourt to peg Murray back to 30-30, but then swings one wide and at set points down, the American puts a wild smash long. An excellent set by Andy Murray, with 70% of his first serves in. Murray *6-5 Fish "Yeah" comes the cry from Murray as he flips a backhand past a stranded Fish. Some would say floundering... Anyway, Fish goes long to give Murray a 0-30 lead and the Brit produces a sensational cross-court forehand to make it three break points. Murray takes the third - off a Fish first serve - when the American nets a volley. Murray 5-5* Fish Murray levels up... to be honest, I missed that game because I was sifting through several hundred fish puns on the texts. BBC Sport Mole at Queen's: "Murray is one of the few players to bring out the uber toffs from the cosy confines of corporate hospitality to actually watch some tennis. Just walked past a remarkable chap who looked like a cross between Boris Johnson and Major James Hewitt, clad in regulation chinos, deck shoes and naturally a pink sweater tied in a knot over his shoulders. Very much Queen's de rigueur. I had the temerity to wear jeans through the clubhouse and was looked at by an elderly couple as if I had just put their Persian cat in the microwave." Murray *4-5 Fish Ripper of a backhand pass down the line gets Murray back to 40-30 but Fish puts away an easy volley to nudge ahead again. From Cogen on 606: "Just need to wait for Fish's first serve to start breaking down. When it goes in... 100% of points won (15/15)... When he gets a second serve 17% of points won (1/7)."" Join the debate on 606 Murray 4-4* Fish Seriously, can we just cut to the breaker? Very impressive serving this though. Murray holds to 15. Murray *3-4 Fish Murray's not getting a sniff on return now. I smell a tie-break. From anon via text on 81111: "Oh c'mon Caroline, just one pun, please, just for the halibut..." No. I won't. It's childish and disrespectful to poor Mardy Murray 3-3* Fish What's this? A rally? It is, you know, and it's a completely bizarre one. Fish plays a through-the-legs lob, Murray completely shanks the smash, Fish sends up the lob and has an easy forehand to win the points, but sticks it long. Another hold to love. From Mad_for_Chelsea on 606: "Fish won't win many points from the baseline today, needs that first serve to fire, which it's doing at the moment." Join the debate on 606 Murray *2-3 Fish This is like mid-90s grasscourt tennis - serve, serve, serve, serve, game. Fish holds to love. Murray 2-2* Fish I've barely finished typing the last game before Murray rattles through his service game to love. And by the way, you can text in Fish puns as much as you like, I'm not publishing them... unless I get really desperate. Murray *1-2 Fish Fish living dangerously again at 15-30, but he rifles a serve right at Murray, forcing the error. The American puts away a volley on game point - which is rather ridiculously called out despite being well inside the line. The umpire literally bellows his overrule and Fish is back to his chair.
Murray 1-1* Fish Anything you can do... Murray bangs down an ace to close out the game to love. Murray *0-1 Fish Murray wins the first two points from the baseline, before Fish puts away an overhead at the third attempt and then slams down ace number one... and two... and three. Job done. *Denotes next to serve 1442: Here we go, Fish to serve first. 1442: They're all talking up Mardy Fish on the telly, but I still can't see anything but straight sets for Murray here. Famous last words, I know. They've played three times before, Murray leading 2-1, but the last time they met was in 2006.
Mardy Fish speaking to the BBC: "I've never played him here in these circumstances. It should be fun. Grass has always been my best surface." Andy Murray speaking to the BBC: "Mardy's been serving well so I need to be on top of my game." 1434: Mardy Fish... I imagine some of you will be amused by his name. Not me though. Seems perfectly normal. He's American, he's 27, and he's just been described by Pat Cash as a "little hot and cold". 1430: I'm not saying the draw has opened up for Andy Murray or anything, but if he wins today, his semi-final opponent will be Juan Carlos Ferrero. But let me be clear: I'm not saying the draw has opened up for Andy Murray.
