Lloyd wants to see more grit from the British number one

Former Davis Cup captain David Lloyd has urged Andy Murray to become more aggressive as Wimbledon approaches.

Lloyd believes Murray, seeded 12th for this year's competition, must prove his toughness to lift the trophy.

"If you're going to win on grass you've got to have a more aggressive attitude." said Lloyd.

"Nowadays you've got be very tough, that's my only question mark. Is he going to be tough enough to get through a Grand Slam?"

The 60-year-old raised concerns over Murray's ability to battle through the gruelling demands of Wimbledon.

"My main concern with Andy is he seems quite fragile with injuries and that's something you've got to look at.

"It's maybe because he's still growing.

"A Grand Slam lasts two weeks and you've got to win a lot of matches against great players over five sets.

"It's all down to how tough he can be."

However, Lloyd stressed that a more assertive mindset from Murray could be the key to success on grass.

"I don't think it's his game, it's the ability to be more aggressive," he said.

"But he has worked on it, which I think he's got to do if he's going to win the big one at Wimbledon."
