"Well, that's that. Bit of a shame - hope Grosjean recovers in time for Wimbledon."

Murray 2-0 Grosjean
No outward signs of any ill-effects for Grosjean as he has Murray dashing around the court before bringing up break point with a wonderful backhand down the line. However, Murray saves on a second serve and a couple of aces put him two games up before Grosjean calls it a day.

The Frenchman shows a mild limp but one would hope it's more a precaution ahead of Wimbledon. Murray, meanwhile, goes into the third round where he will face 12th seed Andreas Seppi or Ernests Gulbis.

1353: Grosjean will continue - for how long we're not yet sure.

1351: Grosjean calls for an official medical timeout as he has his thigh strapped. Murray does some kick up by the back of the court. And a flurry of elder ladies file away for a spot of strawberries and cream I'd wager. Good on ya girls.

1348: Hhmm, not great signs for Grosjean as the Frenchman calls for the trainer. It's unclear what the problem is, though he appears to be holding his left thigh...

Murray 1-0 Grosjean
Murray breaks to take a lengthy opening game. Grosjean goes 30-0 up with a couple of big serves but Murray, aided by a successful challenge on an out call on the baseline, brings up his first break point. He pushes a return into the net to let it slip, and does the same again at advantage two points later. A missed backhand overhead smash from Grosjean brings up a third breaker but again the Frenchman saves, forcing a forehand into the open court, only to concede a fourth break point chance when Murray sends a winner down the line and the Scot steals the opener on a double fault.

1341: It's worth remembering, though, that while Murray missed most of the tour on grass last year because of injury, he did win his two singles matches on this surface with Britain against Croatia in the Davis Cup last September.

Most think he has the tools, but can he step up this summer?

"Murray could win this - it's a smaller tournament that runs for only a week, plus the big guns will all have one eye on Wimbers."
intellectual_chav on 606

1340: Grosjean, who comes into the match on the back of victory over South African qualifier Rik de Voest, has twice reached the final of this tournament, in 2003 and 2004.

Murray, on the other hand, has a record of two wins and two losses here, his best effort being a third-round exit back in 2005.

1339: The players stroll out on to court - Andy Murray resplendent in Scottish blue and white, Grosjean in the more traditional whites. Hardly a rousing reception, but it's a glorious day and I'm sure the Pimms will kick in soon...

1337: "I'm sure if it wasn't for my wrist injury that my ranking would already by a lot higher than it is. I've shown I can compete in match situations with the top guys - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic - and I think I'm capable of getting up among those players.

"There are a lot of ranking points on offer in the coming months after my injury last year and I'm starting to find my game again so I hope to push on."
Andy Murray on BBC Two

1335: And - as always - I want you to get involved in as big a way as possible on 606 or on text 81111. Just like Anon did below, a poster almost as miserable as our Andy it would seem.

"Murray will do alright until he remembers that he's a victim of every ill on the planet. Then he'll start to self-destruct when he realises that he's in his most hated country and under the weight of the 100-kilo chip he carries around on his whinging shoulder."

1330: Oh yes, folks. Dust off your Union Flags, your blue, white and red face paints, and sip on the honey and lemon... 'Murraymania' is about to sweep the nation once more - and it starts right now.

The grass-court season is upon us and, after an encouraging but ultimately fruitless few tournaments on clay, Andy Murray is back on his favourite service.

Queen's Club is the host as the Scot faces Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean - a man who has twice reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon on the green stuff.

This pair have never faced each other in a tournament, but with a vociferous home support behind him, Murray will be hoping to kick on this week and ensure he is in the best possible shape for when he rolls up at SW19 with the hopes of British tennis fans the world over in his hands.

Heaven knows, he can hardly perform worse here today than on Jonathan Ross the other week. He's no Billy Connolly our Andy is he?!
