Gonzalez has won only one of his 11 meetings with Federer but that does not stop him taking the first set 6-2

The match soon begins to slip away from Gonzalez, however, and he has treatment on his back to try to stop his slide

There is no stopping Federer though and he sweeps through the next three sets to seal his progress

Fifth seed David Ferrer is hoping to set up a last-four meeting with Federer but must get past unseeded French hope Gael Monfils first
