Day 11 on Court Philippe Chatrier gets underway with Elena Dementieva taking on Dinara Safina for a place in the semi-finals Safina, who defeated Maria Sharapova on Monday, is broken at 4-4 and Dementieva, a finalist in 2004, takes the first set 6-4 Seventh seed Dementieva looks set for an easy victory as she moves 5-2 clear in the second set But Safina battles back and saves a match-point before levelling the match on a tie-break Dementieva crumbles in the deciding set which Safina takes to claim a stunning 4-6 7-6 (7-5) victory Fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova is in action on Suzanne Lenglen court against Estonia's Kaia Kanepi The Estonian clay-court specialist makes an impressive start and breaks Kuznetsova early in the first set Kanepi has plenty of support but can not stop Kuznetsova recovering to win the first set 7-5 and is soon playing catch-up in the second Kuznetsova completes what turns out to be an easy win and prepares to face Safina in the last-four World number one Roger Federer is also playing for a semi-final spot, against Chile's Fernando Gonzalez Gonzalez has won only one of his 11 meetings with Federer but that does not stop him taking the first set 6-2 The match soon begins to slip away from Gonzalez, however, and he has treatment on his back to try to stop his slide There is no stopping Federer though and he sweeps through the next three sets to seal his progress Fifth seed David Ferrer is hoping to set up a last-four meeting with Federer but must get past unseeded French hope Gael Monfils first Ferrer levels after losing the first set but Monfils is in impressive form in his first appearance in a Grand Slam quarter-final Monfils closes out a 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-1 win to become the first Frenchman into the last four at Roland Garros since 2001
