Zimonjic and Djokovic needed two tie-breaks to win their doubles |
Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic recovered from illness to keep Serbia's Davis Cup hopes alive in Russia. After missing the opening day's singles with flu-like symptoms, he teamed up with Nenad Zimonjic in the doubles to haul Serbia back into the tie.
The pair beat Mikhail Youzhny and Dmitry Tursunov 6-3 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) to leave Russia 2-1 up in Moscow.
Elsewhere, holders the USA, Argentina, France and the Czech Republic all secured quarter-final places.
With Janko Tipsarevic withdrawing on the eve of the tie in Moscow through injury, Serbia are now relying on Djokovic playing in the singles on Sunday to give them any chance.
