Henin was made to work hard against her Czech opponent |
Justine Henin and Tatiana Golovin will meet in the final of the Zurich Open after earning contrasting victories on Saturday. The top-seeded Belgian fought back from a set down to defeat unseeded Czech Nicole Vaidisova 3-6 6-3 7-5.
French teenager Golovin had a much easier time in defeating Italian Francesca Schiavone 6-0 6-4.
Sunday's final will be a repeat of the recent Stuttgart final where Henin won her eighth title of the season.
Henin held two match points on Vaidisova's serve at 5-3 in the decider, but the Czech survived that crisis and then broke for 5-5 as Henin served for the match.
A further break for 6-5 left Henin serving for the match a second time, and despite a double-fault she finally tied up the match.
"I didn't play a good match and on days like that you just have to accept you're not at your best," said Henin.
"It wasn't that easy today but I came through and I'm in the final. It's very important to win when you're not at your best level."
Golovin dominated the first set but then faced three break points as she served for the match but eventually sealed victory.
"I started off really strong, really relaxed, and I know how to play her," she said.
"I know if I can hit hard and put pressure on her she's not able to get her game in place."
