Davenport has 51 career titles to her name |
Former world number one Lindsay Davenport made a winning return to singles competition in Bali. The three-time Grand Slam winner, who gave birth to her first child in June, eased to a 6-2 6-2 victory against fifth seed Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.
Davenport, 31, quit the WTA Tour last autumn after struggling to shake off a long-term back injury.
She returned to doubles action at the Pilot Pen event in Connecticut, and is also playing doubles in Bali this week.
The American won women's singles titles at the US Open (1998), Wimbledon (1999), and the Australian Open (2000).
She also won an Olympic gold medal in singles in 1996, and has earned over $21m in prize money.
Davenport triumphed at the Bali event in 2005, when it was known as the Wismilak International.
