Hewitt 6-2 6-4 6-2 Delic
Delic all but gives up, and you can't really blame him. He's not had a sniff the whole match. Hewitt will face Seppi or Calleri next.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 5-2 Delic
A horrible moment for Delic, whose brutal smash comes right back at him. The American puts his volley into the net and Hewitt gets the double break.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 4-2 Delic
Hewitt holds to love. Delic just hasn't been able to make any telling returns this entire match.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 3-2 Delic
There it is. Hewitt breaks and Delic looks like a man on the brink.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 2-2 Delic
Will Delic manage to earn a break point this match? Doesn't look good for the American as Hewitt levels up.
1733 BST: "Hewitt is looking good. The little guy has been on tremendous form in the US in the last few weeks. A good draw puts him up there competing with the big boys in week two."

Hewitt 6-2 6-4 1-2 Delic
No sign of Delic giving up just yet. The American is playing with Justin Gimelstob in the doubles in New York. Gimelstob, who faces Andy Roddick in the singles later, is playing in his last US Open.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 1-1 Delic
All a bit too easy for Hewitt, whose only enemy here could be complacency. The camera pans to Hewitt's support camp where a row of miserable faces look on. They're probably just bored though.
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 0-1 Delic
We're treated to a bit of Stevie Wonder during that changeover which lightens the mood of a rather downbeat Arthur Ashe Stadium. The crowd are looking for signs of life from Delic but they are few and far between. A big serve can only get you so far.
Second set
Hewitt 6-2 6-4 Delic
Delic lets out an anguished scream as his fluffed return gives Hewitt his first set point. The Aussie makes no mistake and he's got one foot in the second round.
1717 BST: On the subject of Amer Delic anagrams, Helen from London texts to say: "Lemar iced? Don't know about you but I'd wash him down with Roddick and cream."
Hewitt 6-2 5-4 Delic
Hewitt's wife Bec Cartwright shows her approval as Hewitt grinds down Delic to win the first point of the game, and the Aussie finally makes the breakthrough. He'll serve for the set. Meanwhile, Svetlana Kuznetsova is through to round two, a 6-2 6-3 winner over Klara Zakopalova.
Hewitt 6-2 4-4 Delic
Typical Hewitt. The Aussie makes Delic hit three winners before he actually gets the point. It's the best rally of the match but the American still can't even get close to breaking.
Hewitt 6-2 3-4 Delic
For the first time this set, the Camel holds easily. Maybe I wrote him off too soon? I doubt it though.
Hewitt 6-2 3-3 Delic
Hewitt canters to a service hold. Turns out Amer Delic is an anagram-fan's dream. Camel Ride is the best we've come up with so far.
1700 BST: "I reckon Hewitt has a chance of winning the title. He is hungry for success and I feel Federer can't match that hunger anymore."

Hewitt 6-2 2-3 Delic
An eventful game. Another "c'maaaawn" from Hewitt after a peachy forehand pass gives him a 30-0 lead. Delic fights back but a dreadful backhand on game point lets Hewitt back in. There's then a mini-scare for the former champ as he appears to hurt his foot. He seems OK but no service break yet.
Hewitt 6-2 2-2 Delic
Delic, or Big Bozz to his friends, dumps a volley into the net as Hewitt levels up again. The Aussie is yet to face a break point.
Hewitt 6-2 1-2 Delic
Amer describes the Open as the "Big Show" in his latest post on his website. It's fair to say he's been given a cameo role - the equivalent of a walk-on part in The Bill. The cavernous Arthur Ashe Stadium isn't close to full. He holds from deuce.
Hewitt 6-2 1-1 Delic
Delic hasn't got anything to trouble Hewitt on serve. The Aussie bangs down an ace to hold to love. Just a question of when Hewitt will break.
Hewitt 6-2 0-1 Delic
Good stuff from Delic, saving a break point on his way to the hold.
1639: "I fancy Hewitt for the title. Easy draw, should be fresh for the second week."

First set
Hewitt 6-2 Delic
Just 25 minutes gone and Hewitt already a set to the good. Is sirjonson (see below) rethinking his prediction? Delic is fresh from a demoralising defeat to fellow American Donald Young in New Haven. Young, a brilliant junior admittedly, had never won a match on the big boys tour.
1633 BST: "Hewitt against Delic wont be a cakewalk. Hewitt will win in four tight sets."
sirjonson23 on 606
Hewitt 5-2 Delic
There's the first "come awwwnn" from Hewitt as a delicious pass seals the double break. The Aussie looks in pretty impressive form already.
Hewitt 4-2 Delic
Delic challenges a call on Hewitt's ace down the 'T'. Call stands and Hewitt holds to love.
Hewitt 3-2 Delic
Delic is not unlike his sometime doubles partner John Isner in that he's got a big serve. He's also got a massive forehand but not much else to write home about. Still he's keeping in touch - which is more than can be said for you lot. I need texts and 606 messages. And fast.
Hewitt 3-1 Delic
Hewitt's bossing this. The Aussie moves beautifully to get back to a smash before rocketing the ball cross-court. Easy.
1622: Look! A text! From Chris! "Looks like Delic is not as Delic-ious as we might have thought!" says Chris. (Did anyone think he was Delic-ious? Thought not.)
Hewitt 2-1 Delic
Here's a fact to kick us off: Delic hasn't won a match since Wimbledon. But let's now write him off just yet - the American's big serve has just got him on the board.
Hewitt 2-0 Delic
If you're reading this on the website, you'll see a link to your right to Amer Delic's official site. Yes, that's right, the world number 71 does warrant one apparently. This ropey start from the American means I estimate we have an hour and a half to learn all there is to know about Amer before he's off.
Hewitt 1-0 Delic
Oh dear. Delic saves two break points with a couple of fine forehands but then he ruins all his good work by slicing a backhand wide and Hewitt's a break up already.
1610 BST: Good start for Delic. He wins the toss and will serve first.
1600 BST: Lleyton Hewitt, the 2001 champion, kicks off proceedings on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday against 25-year-old American Amer Delic. Is anyone out there expecting Delic to cause an upset? Let me know via text on 81111 or on 606.
