Murray is currently ranked 11th in the world |
Andy Murray may still win his fitness battle ahead of Wimbledon, according to former British number one John Lloyd. The Scot sustained a wrist injury in Hamburg last month which has put him out of both the French Open and the Artois Championships at Queen's Club.
"I don't know how bad Andy's injury is, he might still make Wimbledon but it's just a question of being sensible about it," said Lloyd.
"It would be a blow but he'll still have plenty of Wimbledons ahead."
If the 20-year-old, ranked 11th in the world, misses the showpiece event of British tennis beginning on 25 June, it would represent a triple blow.
And Lloyd - the 1977 Australian Open finalist - added: "I understand he's practising every day and doing physical exercises off court, and there appears to be a time frame of six to eight weeks of recovery.
"He has a lot of good people around him and I'm sure he won't be taking any unnecessary risks.
"Andy will obviously be upset at missing the French Open.
"He still has an outside chance of appearing at Wimbledon, but it's always disappointing for any player to miss out on the Grand Slam tournaments."
