Murray has been appointed talent and performance manager for Scotland and will also act as an adviser to the new Tennis Leadership Team at the LTA.

She will work closely with chief executive Roger Draper.

He has been carrying out a high-profile shake-up the structure of the LTA since he joined 13 months ago.

It has included bringing in a raft of big-name coaches, including Brad Gilbert, Paul Annacone and Peter Lundgren.

Murray, a former Scotland national coach, will be one of a network of managers working with head of technical support Steven Martens, who is leading Britain's efforts to identify and develop talented players.

Draper said: "Judy has 'been there and done it' when it comes to identifying, nurturing and bringing through talented players.

"Both Andy and Jamie are clear evidence of that and I'm confident we now have some of the best people to help bring our talented players through."

Murray added: "We need to do a much better job of attracting kids into tennis so there is a bigger pool of players to pick from.

"When we do find the really promising youngsters, we need to make sure that they have a stimulating and fun environment to develop in.

"I love working with the 8-12 age group and will be aiming to pass on a lot of my experience to the coaches, parents and players out in the field."

Murray's elder son, Jamie, struggled to adapt to an LTA academy as a teenager, leading younger son Andy to further his tennis development in Spain.
