Top seed Petrova is trying to retain the title in Amelia Island |
Defending champion Nadia Petrova will take on France's Tatiana Golovin in Sunday's final of the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Florida. Eighth seed Golovin beat fellow 19-year-old and sixth seed Ivanovic of Serbia 6-4 3-6 6-4 in the first of the semi-finals on the green clay.
Golovin, who beat home favourite Venus Williams in the previous round, is trying to win her first title.
Top seed Nadia Petrova then beat Austria's Sybille Bammer 7-6 (7-4) 6-1.
It gives Petrova the chance to defend a title for the first time in her career and she said: "It would be something special for me and a new step in my career so I can prove something else to myself.
"If I do it once I can do it a second time in a row. It would be a great feeling if I can do it."
Golovin has beaten Petrova in four of their five previous matches but will be wary after ending a five-match losing streak against Ivanovic in her semi-final.
"Ana made me work for it but we always have tough matches even though I'd never beaten her," said Golovin.
"But I'm proud of myself because I was able to keep at it. We both could have played better, I'm just glad I finally got a win over her."
