British number one Anne Keothavong failed to reach the main draw at the Pacific Life Open in California after losing her final match in qualifying. The 23-year-old, ranked 161, lost 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to China's Meng Yuan, who is ranked one place above her, in Indian Wells on Tuesday.
The Londoner had beaten France's world number 115 Youlia Fedossova 6-3 2-6 6-3 on Monday.
Keothavong, who plays mainly on the ITF circuit, now has a 9-8 record for 2007.
