The Stella Artois Championships at Queen's Club will keep its traditional knockout format for this year's event, which begins on 11 June. Tournament organisers have opted not to introduce a round-robin phase, which will feature in a number of ATP events this year, because of time constraints.
The London grass-court event cannot begin until Monday 11 June because of the French Open final the previous day.
Organisers said they could not host the round-robin phase without an extra day.
"Without the extra day, there was a risk that some matches would be 'dead rubbers' if weather delays occurred," said tournament director Ian Wight.
"The event typically features a large number of highly-ranked singles players also competing in the doubles competition.
"In addition, the surface takes longer to restore than others after rain and as a result, the pressures on scheduling are increased."
