Murray, 20, the older brother of British number one Andy, told BBC Five Live: "I'd love to get picked.

"Whether I play with Andy or whoever else is in the team, I'd be really excited to play."

Murray, 66th in doubles world rankings. added: "I think I'm ready and that some of my results over the last few months have shown that."

The Scottish brothers have established themselves as a strong partnership on the ATP Tour.

Should the Murray brothers be selected to pair up in the doubles, they would become the first British siblings to do so since John and David Lloyd in 1980.

World number 16 Andy is now the spearhead of Great Britain's team as they attempt to return to the Davis Cup's elite World Group.

However, Jamie's chances may be limited by the return of Tim Henman, who has made himself available after two years in Davis Cup retirement.

Greg Rusedski is also hoping to play a part in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I tie.
