HENMAN v LOPEZ

So, one clay-loving Spaniard down, another to go for British hero Tim Henman.

Or not.

After an epic of all epics against former French Open champion Carlos Moya, 32-year-old Henman will face Feliciano Lopez - a Spaniard who loves the lawns.

A quarter-finalist in 2005, Lopez, or F-Lo to his English-speaking fans, is relishing Wednesday's match and believes he has unfinished business against four-times semi-finalist Henman.

"I think I should have played against him once already here because the first time I came here, I lost to Andre Sa in the fourth round and I would have faced Tim in the quarter-finals if I'd won," he told BBC Sport.

"Now finally I have the opportunity to play him. It's going to be nice."

Henman's four-hour victory over Moya which stretched over two days was just his third tour win of the season.

It is a dismal run of form which has seen the Briton slide to 74th in the world rankings, but Lopez, 25, is wary of over-confidence against the veteran.

He's not in as good shape compared to previous years but he's still a very strong player

Lopez on Henman
"Of course, he's not in as good shape compared to previous years when he was in the top 10 but he's still a very strong player - especially on grass," he said.

"I don't think the ranking means much in these matches because it's Wimbledon, he's going to be really motivated, with the whole crowd with him. I don't think you can say it's going to be easier for me because he's 74 in the rankings."

Henman might also be wary of Lopez's recent record.

The left-hander, a regular doubles partner of Rafael Nadal, has posted one win since March and reached one quarter-final since July 2006 - although he did beat Henman in February.

From a high of 20 in January 2005, the 25-year-old now languishes just below the Briton at 78th.

But Lopez, who posted an easy first-round win over Josh Goodall, is, like Henman, back on his favourite surface at his favourite tournament.

"I love playing on grass and this is one of those matches you always want to play, one of those that you never forget," he said.

"The crowd is going to be very noisy, but they also respect a lot of the players. It's a good motivation for me to have the home crowd with him but of course it's going to be tough at the same time.

"I have to serve good, that's for sure. Then we'll see how things go. If I hold my serve all the time it's going to be difficult for him and then I need to be ready to take all the opportunities he will give me."

But Lopez won't be drawn on being the man who could end Henman's Wimbledon career.

"Let's see what happens then we'll talk about it."
