Classy Murray reaches Qatar final
Andy Murray stayed focused to beat Davydenko
Murray reached the fourth final of his career in Doha
Andy Murray reached his fourth career final at the Qatar Open with a 7-5 6-2 win over top seed Nikolay Davydenko.

Davydenko seemed to be in control when he broke at 3-2 but Murray rallied to break back and the Russian, hampered by ankle problems, conceded the set.

The world number three's forehands deserted him in the second and a series of errors handed Murray the match.

The British number one now faces Ivan Ljubicic, who beat Robin Soderling 3-6 6-4 7-6, for the title on Saturday.

To win against Davydenko is great because I think there is more to come

"That's one of the best wins of my career," Murray said on his official website.

"He's a great player, one of the most consistent on the tour and he works really hard. To win against him is great because I think there is more to come.

"After I got the first set I think his head went down a little bit and I felt like I was in control.

"I hope I can do well against Ljubicic but I won't be happy until the tournament has finished."

Murray made a sluggish start to the match in cool conditions in Qatar and allowed Davydenko to easily go a break up.

But the Scottish teenager answered with some brilliantly dug out cross-court forehands to break back for 4-4.

606 DEBATE: Can Murray beat Ljubicic in the final?

Davydenko's play became a little shaky after he received treatment on both ankles and, after falling behind 15-40 behind, he gifted Murray the set with another unforced error.

Murray quickly went 2-0 up in the second, thanks to some dogged defence, but his urgency seemed to get the better of him as the Russian top seed recovered the break.

His revival did not last long as his misfiring forehands gave the Scottish fourth seed a 3-1 lead.

Murray stuck to his task well and broke the floundering Davydenko again to reach the Doha final at the first time of asking.
