Roger Federer eased into the second round of the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basle with a 6-1 6-2 victory over Czech qualifier Tomas Zib on Tuesday. Seeking a first win in his home-town event, the world number one won 12 of the first 14 points and hit 11 aces.
"I'm hitting the ball really well right now," he said after his 20th straight win. "It's good if it stays like this."
Federer, who took his 10th title of the year at the Madrid Masters last week, next faces Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
The Spaniard beat German Julian Reister 7-6 6-2.

Fifth seed David Ferrer of Spain had to battle hard to get past Swiss player Marco Chiudinelli 6-7 (1-7) 6-3 6-4.
American Mardy Fish, former champion Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic, German Philipp Kohlschreiber, Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan and Geroge Bastl of Switzerland also advanced.
Formerly a ball boy at the Basle event, nine-times Grand Slam champion Federer is still seeking his first title there after missing the last two years through injury.
"It feels good to finally play a match here," said Federer. "I don't really feel any pressure playing at home. It's just playing in front of friends and family that is special.
"It's a good sign for me that I'm not feeling any extra pressure because maybe before I wanted it too badly."
