Nadal and Federer are world numbers two and one |
Four-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has embraced his growing rivalry with Rafael Nadal. "When we play so often in finals, I think it adds something to the game," said Federer, who beat Nadal in four sets in Sunday's Wimbledon final.
"It's a great rivalry we're having at the moment. Sometimes that really can help tennis."
American tennis legend John McEnroe also believes that the emergence of Nadal is improving Federer's game.
"Nadal is making Federer a better player," said the three-time Wimbledon champion.
"This is the best thing that could happen to this rivalry - Federer winning here."
Before Sunday's win, Federer had lost his previous five matches against Nadal, including all four times the pair have met this year.
One of those defeats was in the final of the French Open last month, the only grand slam tournament Federer is yet to win.
