Amelie Mauresmo marched through to the Wimbledon second round with a 6-0 6-0 whitewash of Croatia's Ivana Abramovic. The French top seed was completely untested on Court Two by the Grand Slam debutante, 22, who took just 17 points off the Australian Open champion.
Abramovic, ranked 192nd in the world, showed her lack of experience in a mismatch that lasted only 38 minutes.
Second seed Kim Clijsters was given a second-round walkover after illness struck Ukraine's Viktoria Kutuzova.
The Belgian's opponent pulled out ahead of their match on Centre Court with a viral infection, and she now meets Jie Zheng of China who Czech Eva Birnerova 7-6 (8-6) 5-7.
Clijsters' compatriot Justine Henin-Hardenne eased into the third round with a quickfire 6-2 6-1 victory over Russian Ekaterina Bychkova.

The third seed, who has dropped just four games in two rounds, secured a meeting with another Russian, 30th seed Anna Chakvetadze.
France's 22nd seed Nathalie Dechy made an early exit, beaten in her first round match by Sybille Bammer of Austria 7-5 7-5.
She was joined as a loser in the second round by compatriot and 24th seed Marion Bartoli who was beaten 3-6 6-2 6-3 by Croatia's Karolina Sprem.
Italian 32nd seed Mara Santangelo was also sent packing by America's Amy Frazier, who recovered from a set down to win 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Russian fifth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova had her second-round match with Kveta Peschke moved to Centre Court, and lost the first set.
But she moved up a gear to take control in the second and eventually sealed a 4-6 6-1 6-4 triumph.
Compatriot Elena Dementieva, the seventh seed, beat India's Sania Mirza 7-6 (7-5) 7-5, and ninth-seeded Anastasia Myskina eased past Zimbabwe's Cara Black 6-0 6-4.
Former champion Martina Hingis reached the third round at with a brisk 6-1 6-2 win over Italy's Tathiana Garbin.
The Swiss 12th seed, who last played at Wimbledon five years ago, looked in a hurry to get home before the evening light failed, wrapping up the first set in 33 minutes.
