A controversial overrule from the umpire takes Tipsarevic back to deuce but he gets another match point and seals it when Murray offers himself up to be passed easily.

Murray breathes a sigh of relief as he struggles to saves three set points against the Serbian and clings on in the first set. The Scot twice uses an ace to get himself out of trouble before sending Tipsarevic's drop-shot down the right side to close out the game.

Murray hits a brilliant defensive lob before sending a backhand winner down the line to set up break point at 40-30. The Scot then secures the game to move very much back in contention in the first set.

Tipsarevic uses the rest period to consult a physio over his right ankle, which jarred after a nasty slip in the previous game. The official word is a 'minor strain' but Tipsarevic returns to action with his ankle heavily strapped and is handed a two break points by Murray's double fault. The Serbian makes no mistake converting the first with a backhand passing shot.

Britain's Andy Murray begins his Queen's campaign in poor form, having won just one of his five singles matches since splitting with coach Mark Petchey.
But he notched a victory in the doubles on Monday, teaming up with France's Sebastien Grosjean to beat US duo Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas.
Murray, 19, does not regard himself a favourite to beat his Serb opponent, saying: "Tipsarevic is pretty good on quick courts."
