Serena has been fined for pulling out of several tournaments |
Serena Williams, 24, has withdrawn from this year's Wimbledon because of an on-going knee problem but insists she is not thinking about retiring yet. Williams, who won Wimbledon in 2002 and 2003, has not played since her third-round loss to Daniela Hantuchova at the Australian Open in January.
"I want everyone to know that I will be back. I'm more excited than ever to resume when my body's ready," she said.
"These past months have been very frustrating for me personally."
Williams has played only four matches since last year's US Open and has been fined by the WTA Tour for pulling out of several tournaments this year.
She had knee surgery in 2003 and has not won a title since her seventh grand slam crown at the 2005 Australian Open.
