Former world number one Henin-Hardenne was in poor form in Miami |
Justine Henin-Hardenne went out of the Nasdaq-100 Open as she was beaten in straight sets by Meghann Shaughnessy. The Belgian third seed made a series of unforced errors and looked ill at ease with her serve as she was dumped out 7-5 6-4 in the second round.
American Shaughnessy will now play Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden, who beat Frenchwoman Stephanie Foretz 6-4 7-5.
World number one Amelie Mauresmo and Martina Hingis were among those to make progress into round three.

Mauresmo needed only 44 minutes to power past Australian Samantha Stosur 6-0 6-0, while Hingis beat China's Tiantian Sun 6-3 6-2.
Henin-Hardenne's defeat was only her third of the season but always looked likely as she struggled to keep her game together.
The former number one's serve was broken seven times as she committed 27 unforced errors, and she admitted afterwards: "She played really well but I wasn't at my best.
"I lacked a little bit of confidence, I played more neutral rather than going for the winners. It's not easy to lose that way and not easy to accept but that's the way it is."
