Draper, the current chief executive of Sport England, takes up the role on 3 April and will succeed John Crowther.

Crowther has been at the LTA for nine years and will continue to assist in the sale of the Queen's Club.

"I am confident that Roger will bring dynamic leadership and help us to deliver our challenging plans," said LTA president Stuart Smith.

"I am delighted that Roger is coming to the LTA at a time when we are entering a new phase of the game with a clear ambition to make tennis accessible across Great Britain and to help develop top talent."

Crowther admitted that the time was right to stand down.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the LTA and I am pleased that we have made progress on many fronts," he said.

"I shall watch with particular interest the development of talent across Great Britain and through the outstanding facilities being developed at the National Tennis Centre.

"After nine years it feels right to move on but I look forward to finalising the arrangements for the Queen's Club in a new role."
