Mauresmo will meet defending champion Dinara Safina |
Top seed Amelie Mauresmo eased past Russia's Vera Dushevina 6-2 6-2 on Thursday to secure a quarter-final place in the Paris Indoor Open. Looking in great shape after a two-week lay-off, Mauresmo took charge from the start, racing to a 5-0 first-set lead.
"I'm happy with my match," she said. "I managed to get her under control from the first point."
Russian fifth seed Elena Dementieva meanwhile made hard work of beating France's Nathalie Dechy 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.
Mauresmo's victory sets up a rematch of last year's final against defending champion Dinara Safina, something the Frenchwoman is looking forward to.
"In the next round I'll take on Safina. It's great," she said. "I have not played her since our last meeting here. It's going to be revenge."
