Daniela Hantuchova made short work of American Lilia Osterloh in the first round of the W&S Open in Cincinnati. The fourth seed, who has not made a quarter-final since Dubai in March, came through 6-1 6-2 to set up a match with Chanda Rubin.
Top seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland later beat Danish wildcard Carolina Wozniacki 6-3 6-1.
In another early match, third seed Jelena Jankovic beat Maria Emilia Salerni 4-6 6-3 6-0.
