Champions Tour extends schedule
Marcelo Rios
Rios reached the 1998 Australian Open final
The likes of John McEnroe, Goran Ivanisevic and Boris Becker will have three extra events to play in 2006 as the ATP Tour of Champions expands.

A three-year title-sponsorship deal with Merrill Lynch sees the tour grow from nine to 12 tournaments.

Barcelona, Dublin and Split are the new destinations on the calendar.

And former world number one Marcelo Rios is the latest name to join the tour, which culminates in The Masters Tennis at London's Royal Albert Hall.

McEnroe remains as motivated as ever as he contemplates another season.

"It's like a second chance for the fans and the players - an opportunity for us to show people that we've still got it," he said.

"I'm training hard and I've still got some good years left in me to test myself against the younger guys like Goran Ivanisevic, Jim Courier and Richard Krajicek."
