Hingis enjoys her mixed doubles win after less than a month back

Hingis and India's Bhupathi, who entered the tournament as wild cards, saw off six seeds Daniel Nestor and Elena Likhovtseva 6-3 6-3.

The victory is the Swiss 25-year-old's 15th Grand Slam title and her first mixed doubles crown.

Hingis also reached the quarter-finals of the women's singles event.

The three-time Australian Open champion's run there was ended by Kim Clijsters.

The doubles victory is Bhupathi's ninth Grand Slam crown, six of them coming in the mixed event and three of them in the men's doubles.

"If anyone asks me why I came back, this is why - the dream of being back on court, of winning major titles," said Hingis.

"I just wanted this one badly. My first mixed doubles title, it definitely exceeded my expectations."

Bhupathi said he jumped at the chance to play with Hingis.

"As soon as I saw she was playing, winning matches, I just kind of shot a quick email to her agent," he said.

"Fortunately, I got the positive answer and I think the rest is history."

In the boys's singles, France's Alexandre Sidorenko defeated Australian Nick Lindahl 6-3 7-6 (7-4).
