Clijsters targets speedy recovery
Kim Clijsters
Clijsters turned over on her right ankle in Melbourne
Kim Clijsters is confident she can make a swift return from injury to compete at her home event, the Antwerp Diamond Games which begin on 13 February.

The world number one had been expected to be sidelined for two months after retiring from the Australian Open semi-finals with a twisted ankle.

"I've been to the doctor and the ultrasounds have been good so I'm ahead of schedule," said Clijsters.

"I'll do anything to get fit and I hope to still be able to play in Antwerp."

The 22-year-old tore a ligament in her ankle in Melbourne which forced her to concede the match to eventual winner Amelie Mauresmo in the third set.

Clijsters is now ready to put that disappointment behind her and resume training in the next few days.

"I'm seeing my physio three times a day and I should be able to cycle from next week onwards," said Clijsters.

The US Open champion is desperate to play in Antwerp as she has bought every fan who attends a bottle of champagne to celebrate her return to the top of the rankings.
