Wimbledon referee Alan Mills has issued a plea for players to stop grunting.

"I personally would love them to stop doing it. I think it spoils the spectacle, certainly for television viewers and also for spectators.

"I'm not sure whether it is necessary or not but I know with Maria (Sharapova) she started grunting or screaming when she was four-years-old.

"She actually hates herself when she watches it on television," Mills, who retires after the Championships, added.
