The United States claimed their third Hopman Cup title in four years with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in Perth on Friday. After the singles rubbers were split, American duo Taylor Dent and Lisa Raymond beat Michaella Krajicek and Peter Wessels to clinch the tie.
Dent and Raymond triumphed 4-6 6-2 10-8 with the final set decided by a first-to-10 super tie-break.
Earlier Krajicek beat Raymond 6-4 7-6 while Dent defeated Wessels 6-1 6-4.
The United States also won the title in 1997, 2003 and 2004.
Although Krajicek struggled against Raymond, she kept her cool to win the tie-break after fighting off two set points at 5-6.
Dent fired down 13 aces on his way to a comfortable victory over Wessels, including three in the opening game.
After closing out the opening set with three consecutive aces, Dent broke Wessels and won eight of the first nine points at the start of the second to seize control.
