Britain suffer Fed Cup whitewash
Anne Keothavong
Keothavong lost the opening singles match in straight sets
Great Britain were beaten 3-0 in their opening Fed Cup match against fourth seeds Slovenia in Turkey.

British number one Elena Baltacha suffered a 6-1 6-1 defeat to Katarina Srebotnik after Anne Keothavong went down 6-3 6-3 to Tina Pisnik.

Baltacha and Jane O'Donoghue were then beaten 6-1 6-4 in the doubles.

Britain must hope to beat Serbia and Montenegro and Denmark if they are to have any chance of winning a place in the World Group play-offs in July.

The 16 teams in Europe/Africa Zone Group One have been divided into four pools.

The winner of each group will play off on Saturday for two places in July's play-offs.

Teams finishing fourth will play off to decide which two teams are relegated to Europe/Africa Zone Group Two in 2006.
