Anastasia Myskina has pulled out of Russia's Federation Cup tie against Italy in Brindisi on 23 and 24 April with a sore shoulder. Myskina lost to 15-year-old Nicole Vaidisova in the Family Circle Cup last week and wants to rest her injury.
"We decided it was better not to take risks because we have Roland Garros coming up," said coach Jens Gerlach.
World number 12 Nadia Petrova may join Elena Dementieva, Elena Bovina and Dinara Safina in the Russian team.
