But Murray nicks the ball wide for match point and he dumps the ball into the net to hand him the match.
Wawrinka 5-4 Murray
Murray does little to challenge the Swiss number two on his service game and hands Wawrinka cheap points to see him hold.

Wawrinka carelessly drops the first point on his next service game and Murray grabs the second one with a strong passing shot. The Scot gets a lucky net cord to earn a break point but a lovely forehand from Wawrinka saves deuce. The 20-year-old eventually holds with an ace.

The home fans have quietened down a little and there is a slight shift in momentum as Murray wraps up his game to love.

After losing a tight tie-break, Murray now has his work cut out against Wawrinka but he earns two break points straight away. The Swiss number two shoots long to grab an early break as the match seemed to dip into a bit of a lull.
Second set:
Wawrinka 7-6 Murray
Murray takes the vital first point in the breaker and the Swiss shoots long at 2-0. Wawrinka skids the ball wide to open up an advantage to Murray. The Scot fails to get over the net at 3-1 but he leaves Wawrinka stretching to go to 4-1. Wawrinka pulls two points back on his own serve at 4-3. The Scot lashes the ball across court for 5-3 but surrenders another point at 5-4. Wawrinka levels at 5-5 and produces a strong serve to edge to 6-5. Murray dumps the ball into the net to edge the breaker 7-5 and take a two-set lead.
Wawrinka 6-6 Murray
Wawrinka produces an overhead to move to 30-15 and then Murray goes long at 40-15. A mishit from Wawrinka gives Murray a glimpse at 40-30 and once again the crowd responds. But the Swiss hangs on to force the tie-break.
Wawrinka 5-6 Murray
More good court coverage takes Murray, who is cheered on by the British fans in Geneav, to 40-0. Wawrinka shoots the ball long and wide to see Murray hold.
Wawrinka 5-5 Murray
The Swiss is determined not to surrender his serve as two aggressive shots take him to 30-0. An ace and another solid serve sees Wawrinka hold.
Wawrinka 4-5 Murray
Murray races to a 40-0 lead but some loose play from the teenager hands the Swiss two points back. Wawrinka rallies to force deuce with a very clever shot off the face off his racquest which nipped inside the line. And Murray eventually holds to edge ahead once more.
Wawrinka 4-4 Murray
Wawrinka sends a backhand fizzing down the line to move to 30-0 as a pensive Roger Federer looks on. A very delicate drop over the net brings Murray to 30-30. But a poor shot selection from the Briton sees the Swiss go to 40-30 and he holds.

Murray moves to 40-15 with a booming serve and he delivers another ace to comfortably nose ahead in the set.
Wawrinka 3-3 Murray
The Swiss appears to have had a sudden surge of energy as he thrusts down the ball to move to 30-15. He cannot return the ball at 40-30 and then surrenders deuce with a rash forehand which fires long. But he holds to keep the set level on serve.
Wawrinka 2-3 Murray
Wawrinka concedes a point to the British number three after a poor line call. Murray holds as the match is started to unfold into the expected tight contest between the two youngsters.
Wawrinka 2-2 Murray
The Swiss number two dumps the ball into the net to give Murray two break points. Wawrinka saves one with a fizzing forehand and saves the second with a booming serve. Murray picks up the ball well to move to advantage but Wawrinka responds with a swinging forehand. And Wawrinka manages to hold as the Scot goes long.

The Scot shows some deft hands at the net as he dips the ball across at 40-15. Wawrinka shoots the ball long to see Murray holds as the 18-year-old seems to have settled into the match.

First set:
Wawrinka 6-3 Murray
The Swiss number two skids the ball wide at 15-15 and the nerves are beginning to tell as a pounding forehand takes the Briton to 30-40. Wawrinka saves deuce but pulls wide to hand the Scot a second break chance. The Swiss saves twice more and eventually takes the first set after 41 minutes with an unreturnable serve.
Wawrinka 5-3 Murray
Another see-saw game sees Wawrinka move to set point but a lob from the Scot saves deuce. Murray goes long to hand the Swiss a second set point - but he saves with a lashing forehand. Another tumble from Murray sees Wawrinka take advantage - but again Murray saves. A strong serve sees Murray make a morale-boosting hold.
Wawrinka 5-2 Murray
Murray moves to 0-30 as the Swiss makes some uncharacteristic errors. The Scot has three break points as Wawrinka - urged on by the crowd - nets the ball. The Swiss goes wide with rash forehand and Murray breaks back.
Wawrinka 5-1 Murray
The Swiss number two is pounding Murray with some thundering groundstrokes and grabs two break points. Wawrinka is helped by the vocal support from the crowd in the Palexpo Arena. He leaves Murray stranded at the back of the court and dips the ball over the net to break for a second time.
Wawrinka 4-1 Murray
Murray races across the court to sneak the ball over the net at 0-15 but the Swiss is doing some damage with his huge serve. The Scot fights back from 40-15 down to grab a break point. Another big serve takes the Swiss back to deuce and a cross-court forehand takes him to advantage. The Scot goes long to see Wawrinka hold.
Wawrinka 3-1 Murray
Wawrinka makes a lashing return down the line to move to 30-30 and Murray's attempted drop shot goes long to give the Swiss a break point. And Wawrinka breaks the Scot by forcing Murray out wide and seeing Murray net the return.

The Swiss world number 60 confidently moves to 40-15 with some aggressive shots and he comfortably holds again.

The British number three plays some nice controlled shots and moves to 30-0 with a delicate lifted lob. The Swiss shows his pace as he races in to the net to take back a point. A drop shot at the net takes Murray to 40-15 and Wawrinka hits long to see the Scot hold.
