Henman will return to action in Thailand later this month |
Tim Henman has been told to rest his injured back following a disappointing run of results in North America. The Briton won just one match in the four events he played after Wimbledon, including a first-round exit to Fernando Verdasco at the US Open.
"I've been told to rest and that's what I intend to do," the 30-year-old told his website.
"My back has been great for months now, so it was a bit frustrating that it flared up again just before the Open."
Henman will slip down the rankings from his current position of 12th next week but remains positive he can turn things around.
"I have to face facts and now I've got to try and deal with the situation the best I can," he added.
"If I can get healthy again I still have a handful of tournaments to compete in this year and I want to do as well as I possibly can in those."
Henman's next tournament will be the Thailand Open in Bangkok from 26 September.
