Greg Rusedski's Australian Open preparations suffered a setback when he was knocked out of the Sydney International warm-up event. The Briton lost his first-round match 6-4 6-3 to Swede Joachim Johansson in the run-up to the first Grand Slam of the year, which starts on 17 January.
Second seed Carlos Moya lost 6-2 4-6 2-6 to Czech player Radek Stepanek.
But defending champion Lleyton Hewitt suffered no such trouble as he eased to a 6-1 6-2 win over Slovak Karol Beck.

Hewitt, who is aiming to win the event for a fourth time, made an early exit from last week's Australian hardcourt championship in Adelaide. "I've done all the hard work leading into the Australian Open so now it's really just about keeping the confidence levels up," he said.
Another seed to fall was Russia's Nikolay Davydenko, who lost 2-6 6-3 2-6 to Ivo Minar of the Czech Republic.
But fourth seed Romanian Andrei Pavel progressed with a 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 victory over Australian Luke Bourgeois, and eighth seed American Taylor Dent beat Santiago Ventura of Spain 7-5 7-6 (9-7).
Moya ran out of energy after arriving in Sydney on Monday evening following his win at the Chennai Open.
"I played the final in India two days ago and I didn't have much time to recover," he said.
"But in the first set I felt pretty well on the court and then I had chances in the second but he won that set and in the third I felt my legs were heavy, but I kept fighting.
