Claire Curran lost in two straight sets in the women's doubles at Wimbledon
Belfast's Claire Curran crashed out in the first round of the women's doubles at Wimbledon on Friday.

Playing in the main tournament for the first time, the Curran and her partner Jane O'Donoghue lost 6-2 6-4 to Yulia Beygelzimer and Tatiana Poutchek.

The British pair started nervously and went three-love down in the first set before a temporary recovery.

However, the east Europeans held their service for the remainder of the opening set to take the lead.

But the 26-year-old Ulster girl led the way as they opened up a 3-1 lead in the second set with some enterprising tennis.

But a slump midway through the set saw the British pair drop four consectuive games with their rivals finally winning 6-4 to take the game in two straight sets.

O'Donoghue had earlier lost her second round singles match to Spaniard Magui Serna 6-3 6-3.
