Hantuchova made the final on grass at Eastbourne last week |
Daniela Hantuchova became the first player into the third round of Wimbledon when Elena Bovina withdrew with an abdominal strain. Bovina, the 20th seed from Russia, beat Edina Gallovits 6-2 6-1 in the first round on Tuesday.
But she picked up the injury during the match, handing Hantuchova a walkover.
It is another boost for the former world number five who rediscovered her form on the way to the Eastbourne final last week after a terrible year.
Hantuchova beat American Samantha Reeves 6-1 6-4 on Monday.
"I feel really great and really happy to be back," she said afterwards.
"I think everyone saw last year that I was struggling a little. I did have some terrible losses.
"But all the people around me were very, very supportive and I have to thank them for that.
"It's behind me and I'm really focused on what's happening now."
