Hantuchova made the final on grass at Eastbourne last week

Daniela Hantuchova became the first player into the third round of Wimbledon when Elena Bovina withdrew with an abdominal strain.

Bovina, the 20th seed from Russia, beat Edina Gallovits 6-2 6-1 in the first round on Tuesday.

But she picked up the injury during the match, handing Hantuchova a walkover.

It is another boost for the former world number five who rediscovered her form on the way to the Eastbourne final last week after a terrible year.

Hantuchova beat American Samantha Reeves 6-1 6-4 on Monday.

"I feel really great and really happy to be back," she said afterwards.

"I think everyone saw last year that I was struggling a little. I did have some terrible losses.

"But all the people around me were very, very supportive and I have to thank them for that.
