Henman appoints new coach
Tim Henman
Henman is looking for a step up in form
Tim Henman has appointed Larry Stefanki as his new coach.

Stefanki will take charge of honing the British number one's game from next Monday.

Henman has been playing without a coach since he split from long-time mentor David Felgate in April.

Stefanki was the highest-profile coach without a job after splitting with former Australian and French Open champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov in the spring.

He has previously worked with American legend John McEnroe and Chile's former world number one Marcelo Rios.

Henman, 26, will hope Stefanki's influence can help him end his Grand Slam drought.

The player will review the partnership after the US Open, which begins next month.

A statement on Henman's personal website, timhenman.org, said: "As of Monday, Tim Henman will begin working with Larry Stefanki as his coach through the US hard-court season.

"The partnership will be reviewed after the US Open to determine whether to continue on a long-term basis."

Felgate, who was best man at Henman's wedding, coached the Oxford-born player for nine years and they parted on amicable terms.

In that time, Henman won seven ATP tour titles and reached a career-best world ranking of five.

But he twice lost to seven-times Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras at the All England Club, and never got beyond the fourth round in any other Grand Slam event.

Henman's search for a new coach stepped up a gear after his heartbreaking defeat to Ivanisevic - which lasted five sets over three days because of rain - in the last four at Wimbledon earlier this month.
