Top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia and second seed Jelena Dokic were knocked out in the second round on Thursday. Austrian fourth seed Barbara Schett was also beaten 7-6 4-6 6-3 by fifth-seed Paola Suarez of Argentina. Huber, the 1994 champion, was beaten 6-3 6-4 by Swiss eighth seed Schnyder. She now faces a semi-final showdown with Croatia's Jelena Kostanic, conqueror of Dokic.
