Recognition for Armagh?
Armagh manager Joe Kernan celebrates after Armagh's All-Ireland Final win over Kerry
All-Ireland gaelic football Champions Armagh picked up six Vodafone Allstars while Tyrone's Peter Canavan and Donegal's Kevin Cassidy also won awards.

Send your reaction to the Allstar football selection.

Enda McNulty, Kieran McGeeney, Paul McGrane, Steven McDonnell, Oisin McConville and Aidan O'Rourke were the Armagh players to win coveted Allstars.

Peter Canavan won his fourth Allstar award while Donegal's Kevin Cassidy earned the left half-back shirt.

Do you think Armagh got the correct amount of awards? Has Colin Corkery been unlucky?

Congratulations to the all the Ulster winners, but it is a complete mystery that Chris Lawn was left out. Not only did Lawn have his best season ever in a Red Hand shirt, he was head and shoulders above any other full back in the country. Paddy Christie is a good footballer, and had a good season, but never reached the heights of Lawn's performances. However, Christie does have the considerable advantage, being a Dubliner!
Ronan Gourley, London

Armagh deserved six Allstars, but how Kerry only got two is a joke.
Martin, Ireland

A disgrace that Chris Lawn was overlooked. How could Enda McNulty deserve an award? It's not the donkey derby we are talking about here!! Well done to all the other deserving Armagh players though, who have put Ulster football back in centre stage. And it seems incredible that Corkery was overlooked too.
Jimmy Hill, Liverpool

Well done to Armagh picking up six. I think maybe it should have been spread out more around Ireland
Ciaran, Ireland

How can Armagh get six all-stars? The only one who really deserved it was McGeeney, but he never played his usual style this year. McGrane sort of deserved one for his efforts over the past few years and Ronan Clarke should definitely have gotten one. How can he beat other players who received an all-star for young player of the year and not even get an all-star!

The Allstars are all biased towards the winners and finalists
Tyrone Man

As for the rest of the Armagh so called all-stars. Enda McNulty is not a footballer. He can't play football and all he does is go out and wreck the teams' best players. Aidan O'Rourke had a mixed year, a bit more of a footballer than McNulty but just about.

As for Stephen McDonnell! Getting an all-star for right-half forward when he played all year in corner-forward. He didn't have a spectacular year and there was more deserving half-forwards than this corner-forward.

Oisin McConville has had the worst year in the Armagh jersey so far! All he can do is take frees and scored the goal in the final. Peter Canavan thoroughly deserved his all-star. He has been instrumental for club and county for a long time and had a great year scoring 6-99 for Tyrone and for Errigal.

Can you count how many other players in his last few years have scored this? As for Chris Lawn, he had the best year I have ever seen him in the Tyrone jersey and yet he didn't receive one. The Allstars are all biased towards the winners and finalists. As for 2003, Tyrone will be NFL, Ulster and all-Ireland champs!
Tyrone Man, Tyrone

Some of the Armagh Allstars are dubious to say the least. The inclusion of McConville is a case in point. Oisin and Corkery have similar attributes when it comes to their value to their team.

How they chose McConville over Colin is a mystery. McConville was consistent yet unspectacular. Corkery lamped over points from all angles and ranges.

McNulty was another dodgy decision. All and sundry could see that Chris Lawn had a fabulous year and should have been awarded a slot somewhere in that back line. Congratulations to Peter Canavan. Another majestic year capped with his fourth award.
Shane O'Neill, Washingbay

DJ Carey cannot be denied his Allstar
Robert Keenan, Dublin

I was a bit surprised with Ronan Clarke getting young player of the year but not an Allstar, he could have been accommodated in the full forward line instead of Peter Canavan because Ray Cosgrove was never not going to get one.

I originally thought Colm Cooper was a shoe in for young player of the year, he would have got it if Kerry won! The hurling Allstars were a bit more controversial. It just proves that a name really gets you an Allstar.

DJ Carey cannot be denied his Allstar when he was nominated alongside Joe Deane and Brian McFall, however it was a disgrace that Davy Fitzgerald and Brian Lohan received Allstars when James McGarry and Noel Hickey were pivotal and far more consistent than the two Clare lads throughout the league and championship.

Davy Fitz got the award for one overly-flashy save from Sheflin in the final, when the truth about that save was the ball was hit right at him and Lohan was destroyed by Martin Comerford in the final and he's only a novice - is he really!

The greatest ever fullback, how quickly Pat Dwyer has been forgotton. On young player of the year it should have gone to Martin Comerford who was far more influential than Eoin Kelly.
Robert Keenan, Dublin, Ireland

The selection of Peter Canavan ahead of more worthy recipients such as Colin Corkery (who single-handedly brought Cork to the AI Semi final), and Mike Frank Russell confirms my long-held belief that "big names" definitely hold an advantage.

No one has shown as much commitment this season as Colin Corkey
Steven Towler, UK

Why should the league winners be deemed to be automatically deserving of at least one award? No one apart from Tyrone took the league seriously.
Tony Fearon, Ireland

Congrats to all the Armagh boys chosen for their Allstars...which are much deserved! Great end to an amazing year for the whole team and management!
Caroline W, Co Armagh

Colin Corkey has been ever-present and how they managed to overlook him I don't know! For me, no-one has shown as much commitment this season as him and I think if anyone deserved a prize this season it was him!

The other boys all deserved their awards as they have been great! But if it was up to me the whole team would get an award, but then again I'm biased!
Steven Towler, UK

Would just like to say a big congratulations to Stevie McDonald - first Killeavy man with an All Star - well done, you've done us all proud.
Sean G, Co. Armagh

I feel Armagh deserved more. Ronan Clarke was outstanding all season and anyone who can skin the best defender in Ireland on All-Ireland final day deserves it. Well done lads!
Brian Og Hughes, Umgola, Armagh
