French troops have released the players caught in the Ivory Coast mutiny after they were trapped for nine days in a hotel.

The squads of Senegal, Sierra Leone and Gambia have suffered a tremendous ordeal over the last nine days, being forced to use swimming pool water to keep clean.

Here is your chance to offer them support as they begin to recover from their experience.

Born and raised in Sierra Leone and having played in the dusty fields with friends, I had no doubt that the Sierra Leonean team along with the other teams were capable of withstanding the pressure. All footballers from the African continent go through a lot of difficulties both on and off the pitch. I am quite pleased you have emerged gallantly from this latest ordeal. It just goes to show that we all face challenges in life. What the players need realise now is that they are true heroes and not only did they get a first hand feel of what war is but went through the hellish moment of their lives.
