Salute Colin McRae
Colin McRae on his way to a record-breaking win
Colin McRae wins his 25th World Championship Rally to stand alone as the driver with the most individual victories to his name.

Congratulate McRae on his achievement and send us your views on the championship so far.

This debate is now closed.

The Scot, who has won the world title only once, came out on top yet again at the Safari Rally in Kenya.

McRae finished the third and final day ahead of Finland's Harri Rovanpera, and Citroen driver Thomas Radstrom of Sweden during a testing event where just 13 cars out of 48 finished.

He moves to second in the championship behind runaway leader Marcus Gronholm, who was one of those forced to retire.

Salute McRae's achievement, and send us your views on the championship so far.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Gronholm's going to have to go through an extreme case of bad luck to avoid the title at this stage. But then, rallying is so unpredictable that these things can still happen.

It's worth noting that Colin McRae has historically been very fast in many of the rallies left remaining (New Zealand, GB, Australia, and the Ford's recent form means he should aim for points on tarmac also). It's just that in recent years the second half of the season has proved largely unlucky for him.

He knows the title is unlikely but this attitude could very easily work in his favour, just as it did for Gronholm in late 2001, when he was in the same position. McRae won't have the pressure of being so close to a title this time round, and given that he copes well under pressure anyway, this could be the cue to make a second-half entrance not unlike his Subaru days from the late '90s.
Gavin, Great Britain

Gronholm is a brilliant driver and at the moment my money is on him to win the title. But there are only 11 points between second & eighth place.

Gronholm not finishing the Safari means the door will be open to any number of drivers in very competitive packages.
Peter Keron, Scotland

I don't see Gronholm finishing anywhere below first this year. Although if he has more rallies like this one then it's out of his hands, but if he can keep them on the wheel for the duration of the remaining races I think he will finish top. But then I'm terribly biased.
